Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Another not so wordless weekend ...pand(a)monium! Photos of a Giant Panda eating.

Giant Panda Eating by Richard WeisserPandas are very popular these days.  Although the species is declining in the wild, zoos around the world are having some success with breeding programs.

These mostly docile creatures eat young green bamboo shoots, and sufficient habitat and food sources are being lost in their native China. As progress encroaches on their habitat ranges their numbers in the wild had been decreasing at a substantial rate.

However, awareness and conservation measures taken by the Chinese government seem to have stabilized the panda population in their native land.

Let's hope that the tide has turned for these beautiful animals, and that they will be with us for a long tine to come.

Richard, did you take this at the Atlanta Zoo? I think I read there was a panda there?

I watched that Travel channel one time and they were on a tour in China....went to a Panda Sanctuary (after the quake) and the lady sat down and they brought out a panda to plop on her lap...while furiously feeding it bamboo. lol. Beautiful shots Richard.

I love the Pandas at the DC zoo.  They are so cute.  They had a very difficult time getting the female pregnant.  They finally did and had a cub a few years ago.  He was the biggest hit in the zoo.

Richard - he/she looks like it is sitting back, relaxing with a good cuban stogie. Or maybe conducting some kind of druidic lesson.

Richard, Pandas are very photogenic creatures. I'm amazed that they can get that big eating pretty much just bamboo shoots. While they're not that important in the natural food chain, it would be a terrible loss if they became extinct. Rich

They look so cute I could just hug them!  (But I won't because I have heard they will rip my face off).

Richard,

It looks as though this Panda has a nice snack in hand and doesn't want to share.

Richard...Many a creature has been saved in the wild by man.  The problem is that many more have been destryed by the same!

Delightful pictures, I just love pandas. When working in DC, I would go to the zoo and visit the pandas.  They are so adorable.

Hi Richard,

Pandas have always been a favorite of mine, along with Koalas. There is something about those animals...
