Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Google Chrome – A first look. There is good and bad news for serious Internet users!

Google Chrome Screen ShotI am now tinkering with the Google Chrome web browser, and I have to say that the experience isinteresting if nothing else.

This browser is sleek and slim and lightning fast, with pages being rendered much faster than Internet Explorer. The look is nice and clean, with few distractions and allowing the web page itself to utilize most of the screen real estate!

Probably the best feature is the start page, which loads every time you open a new tab and features thumbnails of your most visited sites and links to your bookmarks and your recently closed tabs. It’s a great resource when you are browsing.

Unfortunately, what is missing are all of the great Google SEO tools or even a compatible Google Toolbar. I expected that these tools would be incorporated directly in the browser, but this is not the case. So for SEO data, I’ll have to stick to Internet Explorer for now.

But I’ll use Chrome while I’m reading blogs or newspapers online. The speed advantage and nice layout makes it a great addition to my browsing arsenal! And I hope that SEO enhancements and tools will be added in the near future,

Hi Mel...

Aw, it's just a free web browser, and it is pretty fast and a little easier on my old eyes! I hope that you are well, my dear friend.

Hi Richard... I have been playing with Google Chrome for a few weeks now.  It was suggested to me by a friend who knows something about internet security and I was told that it did not suffer from all the security issues that IE does.  So far the speed is my favorite aspect of it.

What are you doing over here?  Shouldn't you be over at Sheldon's?

Richard, Neat feature, in the address bar put spaces between the words and it's a Google search bar. Also, you can open up multiple sites simultaneously. They also have an incognito browsing page too for those times you might not want to leave a trail. Rich

Richard,

Opera is a similar site, but I have put both aside in favor of firefox. I actually deleted Chrome. :)

Richard I wonder how Chrome compares to Firefox. Does the world need a proliferation of browsers? This all started with the battle between Netscape and Microsoft.

Richard, I have used the Chrome for about three months and love it.  I don't think I'll return to Firefox ever. I may use Explorer from time to time but rarely.  Everything seems to have its tradeoffs.....

Brother Richard - I toyed with Chrome awhile back.  I love the look, feel, and speed of it.  The biggest drawbacks came to what it worked well with (MLS didn't work on it, so that was a huge drawback).  They've recently updated our MLS to include Chrome as an acceptable browser, so I have to give it another go.  Our MLS is being very progressive with what they work with (we had the WORST mapping system until recently - now its complete with satellite imagery from Google).
