A photographic study in blue ... long wavelengths produces interesting images.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park by Richard WeisserIt's time for another photographic theme! In this post, the common link between all of the photos is the color blue.

I love capturing deep blues in my images. They translate well to both film and digital formats, and the resulting pictures project a deep richness that is perfect for printing!

And although the word blue is generally associated with melancholy, there is a soothing quality to these images that can actually be uplifting or even inspirational!

I hope that you enjoy seeing my "Blue" theme for these photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Hi Richard, I do not associate blue with melancholy at all; to me, it is a very beautiful hue and very soothing, as you mentioned. It is actually my favorite color. The pictures are great!

BLUE is my favorite color...and BLUES is a favorite music style...This is a remarkable collection and "study" you've done here with blue wavelengths. I really enjoyed it.

Brother Richard - I find the "blue" of misty mountains in the early morning or just as dusk approaches a beautiful thing.  I haven't seen it in awhile, but you reminded me of my time as a kid in the Poconos and later in life riding through the Alps in the early hours, just me and the bus driver awake, talking and watching the scenery go by.  Thanks.

Lourdes...

I waver between blue and green as my favorite color, but blue is a definite for my favorite photography color! Thanks.

Mara...

I was raised on the blues, and I still play my bluesy guitar licks every day! Thanks for the comment!

Brother Matt...

How about a blog about the Alps and the bus driver? That would be awesome! Thanks, my friend!

Richard, I like this focus on ONE color. I have always thought on TV the CSI Las Vegas show had a LOT of BLUE in it too, especially the Crime Lab scenes. Blue is definitely a cool color that people can get immersed in.

You really need to look at real estate as a back up occupation and go into photography full time! You have such an eye for beauty!

Richard,

Blue translates so well in so many areas, except food. There is that one exception, blue M&M's. Do you enhance the colors using an editing program, the camera, or are they natural?

The pics are really good.  I am not sure I would of thought of a blue theme.  I probably would have thought, "What a nice display of talent."

Tami...

Thanks, that's my favorite too ... except the 747 was IN FLIGHT so that was a hard photo to grab!

Mel...

I was looking through all of the thumbnails and the blue ones just jumped out at me all at once so I said: Why not?" lol and thanks for the continued compliments ... you know I love to get them!

I have never thougth of blue being melancholy.  I find it a soothing color, and one that I prefer in dress.

Hey Richard, Not just melancholy, but calmness, tranquility, and healing as well! There's an 'up' side to blue! Love the mountain scene, and the Chihuly!
