Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

No snow in Newnan this year ...yet!

Although we have had a few flurries here and there in 2009, and additionally we have had many sub-freezing nights and icy cold winds from the north, we have not experienced any measurable snowfall in Newnan yet this year.

Downtown Newnan in Snow by Richard WeisserWhich is too bad, because in this part of Georgia, a snowfall event is considered a to be a work holiday! People that move here from the northern areas of the country laugh as the entire business community is paralyzed by an inch of snow.

You will hear the excuse that we "don't have the snow removal equipment" but the truth is, it's a rare enough occurrence that everyone really just wants to get out and play in the snow!

And so Mother Nature, if you please, send a little white stuff our way. I need the break!

Cold weather without snow is a jip as far as I am concerned!

Fort Mill, SC just had about an inch on Tuesday morning.  We are 20 minutes from Charlotte, NC.  All schools were closed and many businesses as well.  Honestly a two-hour delay for the schools would have been o.k. but yes, a good reason to stay home and play in the snow. It was just about all gone by afternoon.

Toula...

We'll take ....SOME of it! lol

Rich...

Mel...

Richard, I think if it snowed 1 inch here in Fort Wayne, IN and was a bit warmer I would love it too!  Hey, it may be 18 degrees as a high today but at least the sun is shining!!

We have soooo much snow -- I would love to send some your way!  My arms are ready to drop off from all the shoveling.  I must admit, I am ready for SPRING! (lol)

Oh Richard,

I am so looking forward to the 67 degrees it is supposed to be here tomorrow and you are wishing for snow?!?!?  I'm wishing for an early spring.  I'm not a winter person.

Richard, we are the same way here in North Texas. South of us they had some snow in December. Go figure.

It's has been cold enough to snow here in Northern Virginia, but we haven't had any snow yet. I don't think it will snow here though because I bought a Snow Blower a couple of years ago. Richard, what happened I don't see a photo with your post. I saw what happened, I didn't scroll to the far right of the page.

Kelly...

They would laugh at us up north for closing the schools with such a small amount of snow! lol

Jared...

That was about our low this morning, but we are warming up for the weekend!

Rich...

Well there you have it! ;)

I figure if it's going to be cold, we may as well have snow.  It beats looking at the dead grass for 9 months!

We haven't had any snow here either.  Montgomery County got a touch but Prince Georges County has had nothing.  I wouldn't mind a good snow as long as it started when I was home so I didn't get caught on the road.

... we just had 3 separate snow storms in a week here in NJ !!!!!

...... yeah it was real fun the first few times a month ago ...

Now ???  ... not so much fun !?!?!?!?!

Plus, shoveling the driveway so much cuts into my blogging time so now it makes me REALLY hopping mad !!!

Cheers !

We had snow this week for a day, but it didn't stick to anything so I'm not sure that it counts. But, the children did get out of school for a day.

Richard:  Seems Northern Virginia acts the same way in snow.  A little bit hits the ground and things are shut down and cars abandoned on the side of the road.

Brother Richard - I actually commented on this earlier, but ActiveRain went squirrely on me, so here I am again.  When did Norman Rockwell start taking photos of your town?  You don't get much more "Americana" than that shot.  Keep the snow, enjoy the day off.  I'll just take a day off when its 112.
