OK, the big day is finally upon us. For over a month now it's been parties, activities and general revelry but now the grim reality is upon us. Christmas is here and we suddenly realize that we have forgotten, neglected or just plain ran out of time to do all of the things that we really wanted to do this year.
Now think about it. I mean really think about it. How many days since Thanksgiving did you say to yourself "I need to do this or that" and well-intentioned as you were, you just never actually got around to doing it.
Think of the hours of anxiety of knowing that you should get started on some of your holiday duties combined with the realization that it wasn't going to be done in time, or maybe not at all. Maybe the gifts didn't get bought, the cards didn't get sent, the crafts didn't get made, the cookies didn't get baked, and the decorations aren't exactly completed the way they should be.
That being said, I will NOT dwell on what should have been done, I will instead, remember with unfettered joy the reasons why the aforementioned chores were set aside. I chose to spend countless hours with my friends and loved ones, eating, drinking, talking, riding around, looking at Christmas lights, window shopping, telling jokes, watching parades, taking pictures and thoroughly enjoying day after day of social nirvana
So, if tomorrow, on Christmas morning, not every "I" is dotted, nor every "T" is crossed, I won't fret about it one bit. You see, no matter what happens from here on out, it's been one of my best Christmases ever, and one that I will carry memories with fondness for the rest of my life!
Merry Christmas to all!

What a great attitude Richard! I didn't get everything done either! No cookies for Grandpa!
Go enjoy the holiday season! Family and friends and spending that time seems more worthwhile :)
Merry Christmas Richard, and many happy New Years blessings to you and your family. Thats an awesome painting, again what a diversity of Talent you have my friend. As to Christmas and being ready, YES YES YES, Im Readyyyyyyy... I say this between making batches of fudge and more cookies, as guests are arriving soon. Why am I here on AR? because I needed to wish my other family (my AR family) Merry Christmas too!
Richard,
If you didn't get everything done I won't be the one telling your wife that you at least got two posts in today :)
Procrastination is underrated.
Merry Christmas!
Rich
Richard...I've got wine for tonight, wine for tomorrow, dinner for tonight and tomorrow. Just baked a batch of lemon bars.....I think I've got it covered here.
And....I've been directed that I am banned from Active Rain on Christmas Day, so see you on the 26th!
Tami...
And Grandpa will understand ... I think! lol Merry Christmas!
Sally...
This IS where my friends are ...lol ... no I'm waiting for my wife to pick up her mother and my daughter arrives tonight at 8:00 P.M! Merry Christmas!
Gail...
I'm getting excited because soon the others will be here and it won't be just me and the cats! Merry Christmas!
Richard, Great attitude! Being with the Family is the most important part of the Holiday anyway! Have a Merry Christmas!
Rich...
She knows that I am out of control ...after all, she lives with me! lol Merry Christmas!
Thom...
I think it's hard for the "outsiders" to understand that we have REAL friends here. Oh well, I guess that you can make it one day. After all, it's just one day! One day! lol and Merry Christmas!
T & D...
And the funny thing is, that no one even notices the other stuff! So why should we worry! A Merry Christmas!
Not to worry. Most of us never really get everything done. I certainly don't. But, when I make my rounds tomorrow, the little ones won't know the difference.
Lovely painting Richard.
Richard.. As Lenn said, I don't think we'll ever get everything done on our to-do lists... especially during the holidays. I'll trade a few undotted i's and uncrossed t's for extra time with family and friends! Merry Christmas buddy... we'll tackle that list after the holidays. :)
This is becoming old hat to me. I am a little envious of people who are rushing around trying to get it all done. I miss the rush.
Lenn...
No, they won't! So why should we worry? Let's just all have a good time! Merry Christmas.
Jesse...
You got that right ...now it's non-stop eating for me! I'm off to the airport shortly to pick up my daughter! Merry Christmas to you.
Mel...
Well, now your missing all of the fun! Get disorganized like the rest of us! lol and Merry Christmas.
Richard: I just came home from a week in the hospital, so not only am I not "ready" in my typical way, but I find myself much more aware of all of the simple things that this year will bring me more than slightly warmer Christmas joy. So... if you are not ready... not to worry.
Merry Christmas Richard. I hope you have an extra special holiday and a great 2009.
Richard, I am not totally ready either. I had issues come up after Thanksgiving, became a bit under the weather, and to boot changed companies. Nonetheless, what happens tomorrow and this weekend will be somehow played by ear. I have not even put up any of my Christmas trees nor are there any decoration out.
I am up waiting for the kids to get in bed, so I can get things ready for tomorrow.. .:)
Dear Richard, I certainly didn't get to everything but whatever I did do, will just have to do! Merry Christmas my friend. You've added joy to my time here on the computer and I love you for it. Have a great day tomorrow!
It's the wee hours of Christmas morning here in Georgia Richard and I'm right there with you way of thinking. If I missed it, oh well. What is important is that I will be spending Christmas with family and it will be a day full of love.
Sorry. Can't relate. I buy all my Christmas presents by Thanksgiving. And we're just gonna chill tomorrow. Aahhh. *sticks thumbs in ears, wiggles fingers and sticks tongue out at Richard... then runs away quickly* LOL
Richard,
Wishing you and your family a Happy Holidays.
Hi Richard:
Oh...I think you more ready for the Holidays than you think!!
Have a Happy,
Richard,
It is just to late now to do anything, all the stores are closed so all you can do is ENJOY the day.
I am in the same boat my friend.
@Lisa, shame on you for making fun of the Enforcer but, it was funny. LOL
Call me strange, but not being ready for the event is 1/2 of the fun...the last minute rush is where it's at!
