Okay, admit it! Christmas is about a week away, and you're not ready. Even if you are the best planner in the world, this is the time when the lingering doubts set in!
"What did I forget" keep playing over and over in you head. "Who did I forget" follows, as the brain carefully cogitates the upcoming festival and the associated duties.
The tasks pile up so many unread books; the chores await their place in the rotation. Randomness finally sets in as the annual game of "catch-up" is replayed in a frantic frenzy.
There is an "event horizon" that looms ominously. It is the delineating edge of a black hole from which nothing may escape certain elimination. It's the point of no return, or the "Let's do THAT next year, because we are out of time."
Of course, that's the same thing we said last year!

The way I approach Christmas is ready or not here it comes. It seems there is always that little something that should or needs to be attended to. Well this year I've adopted ... enjoy the season and for all it means. If I don't get that little something taken care of, oh well, Christmas will happen anyway and I'll get over it. Best wishes for a wonderful holiday!
A week away??? A week away???
O.K. I'll be ready by the end of today.
I think.
"Ready or not, here it comes!" Next thing we'll be worrying about those New Year's resolutions.
Connie...
Well said, and Merry Christmas to you! There would be a lot less stress if more adopted that attitude!
Lenn...
It is crunch time, isn't it?
OMG! Christmas is right around the corner, its now time to get my shopping done.
Richard,
Amateurs, I thrive on waiting until the 24th. I'm a Realtor, I can handle the pressure. Heck, I have two settlements between now and then.
Richard
Richard~Yep, I think your right. Someone is going to be forgotten, the bathrooms are still going to be dirty and I'll only make 2 dozen cookies instead of 10 dozen as usual. Too much to do and not enough time (that is, unless I want to take a break from A|R!)...Oh well, do you think anyone other than me will notice the bathrooms...probably not!
LOL @ Lenn and Richard I. ;-)
Good morning, sweetie. I have been all over the map trying to catch up on my reading. Good to be back. :-)
Hi Richard:
I always so busy this time of year, I keep double guessing myself about getting things done.
Need to write everything down anymore!
Michael...
Yes, and then the dreary days of no-holiday winter follow! Thanks, my friend!
David...
You need to get on the ball! lol
Rich...
Which affects your potential gift purchases, I'm sure! ;)
LaShawn...
I would rather have more cookies and a less than spotless bathroom! And you and I both know that by the time they leave the bathroom will be a mess anyway! Relax, and have a great Christmas!
C...
There's a lot of great stuff out there, so get going!
Toula...
Yeah, a list ...I'll do that next year! lol
Lets see - Christmas is a week or so away...I hope my wife has taken care of it all by then! Sounds bad doesn't it?
I am ready so bring it on!
Gary...
Oh, you are so bad! lol
Mel...
Good for you. You're special!
Ready or not, here it comes. I think I'm ready. I could be ready?
JL...
You da man!
First time ever - we decorated on Thanksgiving day (and eve). It will probably never happen again! :)
Ok, I am 'done' but I am not behind. I need to finish up the holiday cards and shop for Christmas dinner. The older I get the easier it gets.
I'm not behind....I just cut everything down. That' makes me right on pace. If I cut everyone out this year, then Im' done. Not gonna happen, but cutbacks for sure.
I think i'm done. The parents retired this year so all the kids are on strict orders, one present each. That was easy (on me and my wallet) SO, i'm just waiting for the fun & the hanging out together. Last night a fire truck came through the neighborhood with Santa Claus on the roof! It was so cute! Really festive! KM
I'm heading out to start today...YIKES! Can't believe it's here already and you're right, I say that every year! After a few crazy days, I promise myself it'll be different next year...and so it goes!
Steve...
And the gifts for the kiddies?
Mel..
Would I dare say that you have a "routine?"
Larry...
I like the way you think!
My shopping is done, a couple of gifts to wrap for a friend, and days of volunteering ahead. I'm one of theoe disgusting people that begins early and wonders why everyone else is flapping around. We create our own chaos! You can prioritize, which means simplify, simplify, simplify so there's planty of time to concentrate on what's important... giving family and friends your undivided attention and sharing your gratitude with others less fortunate. The rest of the "holiday stuff" is rarely remembered! Happy Holidaze!
You organized people scare me! I generally wait until the last minute. It doesn't really matter anyway because it's all about spending time together so if the house is a little messy or the presents were wrapped in a hurry nobody really seems to mind. :)
Whats not done by Dec.23 rd when I go to bed likely is not going to get done. I don't let the small stuff stress me out during the Holidays. On Dec.24th It's on cruise control, time to sit back and relax.
Richard - I am ready for Christmas, but don't know if Christmas is ready for me. I still have to send my kids gifts, but they will go out tomorrow. Do have some additional decorations to put up. However, my wife's family has to decide what is happenning pretty quickly, otherwise, if we are having dinner at our house, they will be getting spaghetti.
Kristin...
Santa rides a golf cart in Peachtree City GA! lol
Laura G...
It's the never ending cycle all right! Have fun shopping.
Linda...
Now, I'll bet you still worry about something you forgot that you didn't forget! Nice pun too. lol
Richard, are you saying we can dive into a black hole prior to Christmas to escape the frenzy? I think in reality we create our own frenzy.
Richard: Over the years, I have scaled back on the Christmas planning. Disappointment at the holidays for unfinished tasks is a bummer. I do less, enjoy more.
Here I was, leisurely reading through a few posts and BAM, Christmas IS A WEEK AWAY! Are you kiddin' me? When did that happen? Seriously, I thought I had plenty of time...LOL...I guess I better get off this computer and finish decorating the Christmas tree!!!
Planning? I didn't know you were supposed to plan for this stuff. My wife handles all of it and just tells me what my part is.
Richard, the last 2 weeks really do just whiz on by don't they. And here I am blogging, not worrying about it all.... Have a wonderful Christmas my dear!
Mandi...
As long as you are there, they are happy! ;)
Chad...
I like the way you think! "Cruise control!"
Big Mike...
We just do what we can, the rest is what it is!
Richard, I am totally stressing this holiday. I have so much shopping to do... I need to get off my butt!
Finally got our tree up, only last night. This year everything just came so quickly....
Richard...you are right, we are not ready, we will be up until 2am the next 3-4 nights and still won't be ready. It seams we alsways try to squeeeze one more thing in!
Gary...
Yes, I believe that we do create it ourselves, but that doesn't make it less real!
Chris Ann...
"I do less, enjoy more" ... I like that!
Susan H...
Well let's get going then! lol
