The 2008 Newnan Christmas Parade was a huge success on a blustery day!

Newnan Christmas ParadeThe 2008 Newnan Christmas Parade took place on Sunday December 7. Newnan Georgia, is about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Although the weather was chilly and a cool breeze was blowing, the sun was shining brightly and it was a glorious day for a parade. Jackson and LaGrange Streets were lined with thousands of Coweta County residents and visitors to witness the event.

The parade featured marching bands from all three county high schools; Newnan, East Coweta and Northgate. There were floats present from nearly every civic association, church, and school in the County. Many businesses in the Chamber of Commerce were also represented.

Newnan High School BandThe parade lasted nearly an hour before the primary guest of honor closed the show! Santa Claus made his arrival on a bright red county fire truck, to the delight of all the children anxiously waiting to catch a glimpse!

The 2008 Newnan Christmas Parade was a success by anyone's standards. The crowd dispersed quickly to return to their warm homes, but all had nothing but praise for both the quality of the parade and the smooth operation effected by the organizers!

And all said they would be back next year!

Richard, This is the small town America everybody should experience. Every town has their Santa on a Firetruck, red, not those yellow ones.

I don't know the last time I made it to a Christmas parade, but I sure loved them as a child. This one looks like it was a lot of fun to see.

I guess it's the nearest thing to a sleigh in every municipalities roster of rolling stock! Thanks, my friend!

JL...

Last year I made it to the Senoia Parade, but this was actually the first Newnan Parade that I attended and it was great!

A BIT CHILLY ~~ A BIT CHILLY YOU SAY!!!! Richard do you know what it has been doing in West Michigan?  In the past 48 hours we have gotten about 13" of snow.  In one 20 hour period my husband had to blow the drive way 3 times.  Now let's talk about chilly . . lol

Wonderful photos.  We have a parade here in West Chester, that includes 3 high school marching bands, West Chester University, antique cars, firetrucks, Santa, you name it.  I miss it because no one here will go with me anymore!  This year, I completely forgot about it!  It's part of the West Chester Victorian Christmas weekend.

Susan...

Well, next year, find a friend to go to the parade with you and do it! It's important to set time aside for special activities during the holidays!
