In the midst of the turmoil of the economy, and in spite of all of the bad news coming from the economic sectors, it's time to sit back and reflect on all that we have for which to be grateful.
Of course, we have our families, our friends and our health. That goes without saying. And we are blessed to live in a land that affords us the opportunity to achieve any level of success imaginable, as long as we are willing to work for it.
And we should be very grateful that we live in an amazing era in history. Technology has infiltrated almost every aspect of our existence, and we are privileged to be able to witness some of the most dramatic advances in science in human history. What is commonplace now was the stuff of sci-fi novels and comic strips when I was a teenager! I am constantly amazed at how far we have progressed during my lifetime.
And finally, I am thankful every day that I get to experience one more day of life! I treasure each moment, and look forward to enjoying many, many more!

Thom...
I may actually have something up and running in that area soon!
Liz...
4th Thursday in November ... that's this upcoming Thursday!
Richard, your counting of your blessings this time of year puts everything all in perspective.
Richard, we have so much and so many opportunities that others can only dream of! Thanks for the reminder, I needed it today.
Richard - and we have seen the fall of the Berlin Wall, the demise of apartheid in South Africa, the election of the first black president in the United States and so many more positive events to be thankful for.
Awesome colors Richard....reminds me of fruit loops:)
My blessings.... Mike, Max, Mommy, Lizzie, Little Lizzie, Scat, JJ,... Richard.... do I have to list Jack? Oh, alright, Jack, you, Mel, C, Jesse, Gary, Neal, Jason S., Jenn, Amanda, Russel, and the list goes on with Leann, Liz, Jackie, Nora, Robin, Robyn, Cheryl, Julie... really, I could go on and on and on and on. I should really make a pact with myself that this is the list I start with every day. Not the list of things to do, things I can't buy, pounds that need coming off. Thanks for a good start to the day! I'm off to body pump with one of my blessings... Cheryl!
I am grateful for a lot of things. The hot cup of coffee sitting on my desk is one of them.
Richard,
My friend you are so right we do have so many things to be thankful for and should be glad that we have another day to enjoy and share with others.
Gary...
Indeed it does!
Laura G...
You're welcome! And we need to look at the good things we have every day!
Big Mike...
Do you think that we are living in the greatest era of history ever? I do.
Richard, for me being thankful starts every single day that I have the opportunity to stand 5 feet 11 inches above the ground.
Thanks
Nice post
Bo
Thanks for that post, Richard. While things may be bad, so many people have it WORSE. We need to concentrate on what we DO have, not what we don't.
AMEN! This year I have a huge number of new blessings. All my new pals here, and the fact that career-wise, things are looking much better. My hopes and dreams are starting to move in the right direction and I have much, much more than so many folks do to be grateful for. Now, if I could just conquer poverty and war, I'd be good.
Rich, very nice post to remind us to remember the blessings we have as a Nation and individually. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Richard: I'm happy that this year I can be thankful for knowing you. Your blog is source of inspiration, commiseration and most of all friendship.
My pastor always uses the term "thanksliving" around this time. In the grand scheme of things, many days we are selfish, ungrateful brats (ok maybe just me ...). We not need to look far at all to see how incredibly blessed we are.
Whenever I feel cranky this is what I use to feel better. I am so blessed in so many ways!
Neal...
Sparkling with ugar-shay, uilds-bay up you uscles-may!
Susan...
Aw, that so sweet!
Mel...
I really love my coffee in the morning!
Don...
I am ESPECIALLY grateful for the sharing we have here at AR!
I am grateful for every experience I have ever had, they made me who I am today.
I am taking a break from reading something written by a Chinese national whose opening sentence is "Soon after arriving in the United States, I discovered that I had been born an American. It just took me 31 years to get here..." Her story is not only awe inspiring, it just reaffirms for me how very blessed and very fortunate we are, no matter how many times it may not seem to be working out that way. I try to remember to show appreciation to God every day for the many, many blessings we receive every single day. Where else is that even possible?
Gorgeous photo!
I was just thinking of this today. Every thanksgiving we go around in a circle and say what we are thankful for. I was planning my "thankfuls" which always includes my marvelous family, our health & that we have another thanksgiving together. KM
I'm thanful for all the friends I have made here in the Rain.
Oh! That's another one I should have mentioned like Cameron. I am thankful also for my AR friendS! KM
Bo...
You have me beat by half an inch! lol
Erica...
That is a great way to look at it!
Suzanne...
Let me make your job easier ... if you solve poverty, war will end on its own!
My blessing are God, family, friends! I tahnk God for my home, my job and my life. Happy Thanksgiving!
Richard, we do live in an amazing time. Our son is in the military and is in Baghdad on his second tour. He was actually supposed to get out last August but got the stop loss and will be getting out this coming June. It is so INCREDIBLE to have the technology to talk with him several times a week on instant message. My Dad was in the Army during World War II for about 5 years (the same amount of time as my son will be serving) but he had NO contact from home almost that entire time. WE ARE SO BLESSED!!!!!
Another great post from the famous Richard Weisser. Please keep posting I injoy your post very much.
