Times are very hard in real estate these days. A lot of offices are making changes in order to remain competitive in an ever shrinking market. And change often involves casualties.
A few weeks ago I wrote about a merger that made us the number one ERA franchise in the state of Georgia. We have combined forces with four additional offices for both market presence and to benefit from the economy of scale. And that often means the reduction of staff, and in this that is exactly what occurred!
Linda Nesbit joined our company just under two years ago, and her beautiful smile has welcomed agent and client alike as they entered our real estate facility. But Linda did much more than just act as a receptionist. She handled all of our listings and files, and assisted the agents with their day to day activities in any way that she could. She is both highly skilled and extremely personable, which is a rare and pleasant combination of traits!
She is a wonderful, humble, and kind lady, and brings sunshine with her wherever she goes. I consider her a friend, and I will miss her very much.
BTW, if anyone out there the Newnan-Peachtree City-Fayetteville area is looking for top-notch help, let me know and I'll get you in touch with Linda. You won't be sorry!

Richard: What a nice kindness you have extended to us on behalf of Linda Nesbit. She sounds like such a wonderful person. I am sure... especially with her very "winning smile" that she will land on her feet somewhere soon. Thanks for sharing this with us.
It it tough to have to scale back. I hate it for everyone. The receptionist we have is wonderful and basically runs our office. She knows who is where and what is going on at all times. Our office doesn't even like it when she goes on vacation! Good luck to Linda. Good help is hard to find so I'm sure she'll do just fine being such a great asset.
Richard, We just merged with another company and they can be sooooo much fun (right!). There is always fallout and at times it is not very pleasant. Sorry for your loss.
We're sad to see this happen to such a good person. It is what it is though and these things do happen. Based on your wonderful description of her, we're sure she'll find a great new brokerage to continue her role as a skilled receptionist/agent assistant. Best of luck in all your future business endeavors Richard. Knowing how profitable Georgia is, you should do just fine.
Are things stabilizing in your part of the country? Are homes starting to sell again?
Richard,
I feel for you...we also closed down and reopened under another name and the new owner/broker made lots of changes and our office manager was just let go after 8 yrs...I love her and hope she finds another job soon. I also hope Linda is successful soon as well.
Great post to recognizesomeones hard work and dedication. It is far to often we take the office staff for granted. I hope someone sees your post and offers here a job.
Karen...
It is especially hard at this time of year. Thanks for the comment.
Jenn...
We are about to go into shock I think. We had a lot of fun too, and I will miss the laughs!
Don...
It is very sad for me. I wish I could do more!
Richard, my company is owned by Warren Buffett, so we have really great backing. I do worry how much we are losing as a company in these crazy times?
CR...
I know that she will. And our market is showing signs of improvement. We are as busy as bees right now!
Neal...
Then you know EXACTLY what I am talking about!
Scott...
I hope so too!
Signs of the times... very sad.
Oh Richard. This is a shame. I hope she lands on her feet. You are a sweet man, Richard Weisser.
Richard, People come and go in this business all the time but only a few make an impression that sticks. Linda will be successful wherever she goes.
Richard,
With you endorsement, I am believing that Linda is going to end up in a better opportunity for her and this change is going to be a positive one in her life. (And I back this all up with a prayer to God because He can do it).
Darin...
ANY well can run dry if it doesn't rain!
Susie...
Yes it is!
Susan...
I am tearing up right now ... I'll write about some of our capers one day!
Rich...
i know she will, but I will miss her! I guess I'm selfish.
It is always too bad when you lose a good one.
Richard, very sorry to hear about the scaling back and the loss of Linda's position. There is so much change in the business world these days. I hope Linda finds something real soon for her talented self. She would be a credit to any organization. Thank you Richard for sharing her story.
Julie...
I know she will! Thanks for you support, I know Linda will aprreciate it.
Gayle...
It going to be a sad day.
Gary...
Thanks so much. I know Linda will read this so all of the kind words are appreciated.
What a nice way to try to help this lady out! If what you say is true about her, I'm sure someone will snatch her up soon to start working for them.
The sad part of mergers is the loss of some jobs but it is part of the goal. Same when you lose superstars but she will find her place with folks like you promoting her!
Michael...
I certainly hope so ... they would be well served by doing so!
Gary...
I will do all I can!
Sad. Hopefully, she'll be quickly employed. Tell her to file for unemployment TODAY.
Agents who are leaving the business can't but office employees surely can.
I am sure she will find something great soon! She seems multi-talented. It's quite a bummer what is going on though. KM
It's a shame when a good employee has to go. With her personality and good work ethics, I'm sure she will be able to find another position especially with a glowing reference from you. I wish her will.
Richard, that is a bummer... Hopefully the job market in your area is stronger than ours is right now!
It's never good to hear about someone parting ways with their job, especially when they were good at it.
If all you are saying about her is true she will be just fine. We hate to lose the good ones, however.
Lenn...
Oh yes, I will remind her to do that right away! THX
Kristin...
We held on as long as we could! But these moves all mean that ERA United will live on, so it had to be done.
Michael...
Thank you. I am sure she will appreciate the kind words.
Jer...
It's a lot tougher than I would like it to be. We'll have to wait and see.
JL...
And when you have a great relationship. That makes it especially hard.
She has a contagious smile that is for sure!
They say that when one door closes another opens and hopefully she will find another door that will open and offers her a brighter future.
Great post for your friend. A lot of really great people are going other places these days it is sad. I pray the best for her.
Mel...
And I will miss her around here!
L & L...
I am certain that she will!
Steve...
Thanks ... I will pass on your best wishes!
Richard, we live in tough times in the Atlanta market. This story is being repeated in just about every office around town.
It's such a shame when we loose good people. With such an outstanding personality she should be able to find another position quickly.
How sad, but Richard it was kind of you to try and help her out. But on the upside, when someone is that dedicated and good at their job and wants to work, they usually can. I wish Linda the best of luck.
Richard- I am sorry to hear of this loss to your company. I wish her the best and this was a very nice tribute to her. You are a good friend!
Jim...
I know it is, and that is very sad indeed!
Mandi...
I think that you are correct! THX
Tammy...
Thank you for your concern, she is reading these comments and appreciates the support!
Lori...
Thank, but the outpouring of support has helped Linda make it through the day!
Richard: I hate it when things like this happen! When our Long & Foster Haymarket office merged with the Gainesville branch last year, we lost a great receptionist, and an even better office admin. And it was the week before Christmas. Times are tough, but it sounds as though someone with Linda's personality and skills will land in a great job very soon. Good luck to her!
Richard,
I bet Linda will miss you too.
Ann
Awhh how cool is that? What a wonderful recommendation/reference you have given Linda...she can attach the link to her resume! :-)
Chris Ann...
It's never a good time, but this seems like a really bad time!
Ann...
Oh, I know she will. She wrote me the most wonderful email after reading this post!
Liz...
She has already printed it and dome exactly that!
Richard - Awesome post and what a friend she has in you. You demonstrate your character well!
Richard what a wonderful post. Things are very difficult nationwide. People are struggling to make ends meet and it is very sad to hear someone so talented has to be let go. I wish your friend the very best in all things. Love, C.
Greg...
Thanks for that. Linda wrote a beautiful email to me. I feel good about this post!
CTS...
Linda has been reading these comments and is thrilled by the outpouring of support! Thanks so much.
Richard,
That was so nice of you and her to appreciate you.
Ann
