Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Waxing poetic as autumn’s display wanes…all good things must end!

Colorful fall foliage in the Great Smoky Mountains National ParkOh bliss, to see cold hills in flames,
Chilled to the bone amidst the blaze,
‘Ere Autumnal winds consume the fuel.
Fierce fires that burn for too few days.
                                    (R Weisser)

Fall is waning quickly. I love everything about autumn except one thing ... the show is over way too quickly. There can never be a "wait until tomorrow" attitude when one is taking photographs of nature's most awesome display.

I always experience melancholy as November approaches. To go from the heights of visual autumnal Nirvana to the depths of winter's despair. It's a lingering depression that is interrupted only by the holidays. If not for that, winter would be intolerable.

Relish the remnants of fall while they last. It will all be over before you know it.

Our fall always runs later, so come on over to the beach Richard!

This is the first really sunny day we've had since the leaves turned enough to get photos.  I've got an 11:00 contract appointment today in Frederick County, MD.

I should be able to get some good shots today.  In fact, I think I'll leave now and get the photos first.

We still have a sprinkling of color here and there.  Today it's suppose to be 60+ degrees so we aren't thinking snow just yet.  That's one thing about Wisconsin.  If you don't like the weather, stick around, it will change.

Take care.

It's not the fading of fall that's got you down, it's that you've got to crank up the heat!!!  ;}

Richard...I am torn between the newness of spring and the beauty of fall.  Both last to short of a time!

Jeremy...

I don't think of fall and the beach at the same time lol!

Lenn...

Blow off the appointment. You must have priorities.

Cindy...

Halloween is tomorrow! The end is near! lol

Laura...

That's what started this depression all right! lol and thanks for the reminder!

Richard,

While technically each season is the same length, I think spring and fall (at least the parts we enjoy about them) are necessarily short to transition us into winter and summer. I didn't make the rules, just my observation. :)

Thanks for sharing your photos, Richard.  We have 2 seasons here - summer and not-summer - no real fall or winter to speak of and definitely not that gorgeous display of color that you have!

I can enjoy your changing of colors pics & others.  TX has the same sort of weather as Lisa above.  I'm not complaining, you just need to know if you put a jacket on in the AM you will be hot so take it off in the afternoon.  Nice pictures, love the colors!

Living in Central Texas we can only enjoy those scrumptious colors thru ya'lls photos.. keep em coming, they are great.  We have a limited window of fall color in limited places, nothing as showy as your photos.  But our springs are stumpendous with so many and varied wildflowers so I guess it equals out?

I prefer fall, but Spring is a close second. But the pollen kills me now! lol

Steve...

lol I like that: "I don't make the rules." Nor do I!

I grabbed this shot EXACTLY 1 week ago from today! THX

Richard,  I've always ever lived in a place that had four distinct seasons and I look forward to the beginning and end of each.

Richard - I haven't had a chance to go up to the mountains yet this year, but, around here the changing foliage has barely started. I will be giving the camera a workout on the leaves here pretty soon though.

Richard - That photo so captures the splendor and vibrance of autumn. I took a few pics a couple of weeks ago but really need to take so more before those great shots are gone forever.

Our fall is just starting this week, and it's so beautiful here in North Carolina. In the 50's (cold for us!) here this week, but today it's going to be 65. Great fall weather. Glad I read this, it reminded me to take my camera with me today!

The colorful leaves make a nice picture, but to a Texan stuck in MA it means snow is coming soon.  Brrrr.

Kristin...

Thanks. Fall photos are one of my specialties. I keep promising to do a book. Who knows, it might happen one day!

Gail...

The Texas wildflowers are famous throughout the land, and I hope to see them one spring!

Richard...

I think that makes you appreciate the cycle of life in a more profound way!

Mike...

I love the change of seasons but the beauty of fall can't be beat.  I feel for Heath!  I was in Pittsburgh once in November.  Heavy emphasis on once.

Posted by Melody Botting Real Estate Network about 1 year ago

Richard:  What a lovely poem!  You are such a talented individual!!  As for the fall foliage being here for too short a time, I agree.  In fact, I have always disliked the month of November because it seems so depressing....think it's the naked trees and gray skies.  Not even Thanksgiving can redeem November for me.

Posted by Chris Ann Cleland, GRI, SFR (Long & Foster, Gainesville, VA) about 1 year ago

Donna...

So what are you waiting for... Christmas? lol

Nancy...

A touch? That sounds more like a kick in the pants! lol

Linda...

My case is always on my shoulder in the fall!

Heath...

How in the world did you wind up THERE?

Posted by Richard Weisser Coweta Fayette Real Estate about 1 year ago

Mel...

You do realize that I am from Pittsburgh? ;)

Chris Ann...

You are the first to even mention the poem ... I saw the photo I wanted to use last night and it inspired the poem! Thanks for the nice comment!

It is certainly dwindling away. Fall is my favorite time of year also.

Good Morning Richard-A wonderful post and pics are wonderful as always. The turning of the leaves is always too quick and they are indeed so beautiful while they last and the barren bleak look afterwards is depressing and can make us sad. I'm a little sad right now myself but for a different reason but I guess it will pass. I did get a chance to take some pics of Autumn's beauty close by when I visited a friend as the place where she lives is surrounded by the beauty of the season.  I was experimenting with the camera a bit as I'm nor a pro but I think I did OK. Have a great day and keep up the great work.

Hi Richard, Wow, a poet also! It is a little sad to see fall end but then there's SNOW to look forward to. Beech Mtn NC got 3 inches Monday night so I can't wait to see the big one soon! Have you been to Gatlinburg this year? A lot of color is just now coming on in the Wears Valley area.  Richard, I am going to send you an email, have a question about SmokyPhotos.com. God bless,

Pat...

I will check it out as soon as time allows ... we've had big news today!

Cheryl...

I got you email, but I don't have any of Christmas in Gatlinburg! Maybe this year?

Steve...

I thnk it's grand!

Well, at least it's a good theme to be stuck on.

Richard, on the flip side of seeing the color from trees drop is you get to see "through" the trees, something I in particular enjoy myself.

Most of the leaves here in Menomonee Falls Wisconsin are crunching under foot.  It is a sad day to see Autumn end.  Our first snow fell the other day, I don't think I am ready for winter.....

Wish I could wish it away for a month or soo......
