Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin' ship ...

Swirling and Colorful Fall LeavesMy senses have been stripped, my hands can't feel to grip,
My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels
To be wanderin'.
I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade
Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way,
I promise to go under it.

(Bob Dylan - Mr. Tambourine Man)

As I watched some autumn leaves swirling in a whirlpool in a mountain stream. I was transfixed by the simple circular motion accompanied by the sound of small cascades of rivulets meandering through the ancient boulders.

It is an ancient ritual. The deciduous trees shed their coverlets in preparation for the frigid days ahead, and the pastel hued leaves flutter into the branches and brooks, left to tumble and float downstream like so many miniature canoes.

And as I stared through the viewfinder of my camera, determined to document this ongoing autumnal saga, I came to a sudden realization:

My left shoe was underwater, and it was COLD!

That's one thing we don't get here in Hawaii and that's the pretty Autumn leaves.  We do have plenty of those cold mountain streams though!

Aloha

Richard,

I got to see some of this last week when I was in NY...not a lot because it wasn't that cold but it was nice for a change instead of always green.

Newnan has a splendor of color in the fall, I remember being there for a fall sporting clays event, glorious!

How often do you go out taking photos? My wife and I are starting little trips where we both bring our cameras and snap some shots together. Its fun and brings us closer.

Shane...

I look for photos every day, but take trips locally (within 150 miles) about once a week, and out of state about 4 times a year!

JL...

It did indeed!

Ann...

It was worth the wet foot for the pic! THX

Richard,  The pain that true artists must suffer for their craft.  Make sure you keep both ears though, they're a matching pair.  It did help Van Gogh though.

Richard I...

Well, I still do have both of my ears, so I'm not truly ready to commit to my art just yet! lol

Richard, A good photographer braves the elements to get that perfect shot. I remember being in water up to my chest taking the 'perfect' picture of a lighthouse... Things we do when we get in our right mind eh???

"I'm ready for to fade"...that's always been a pet peeve of mine.  Even after all these years......and I didn't think it sounded any better by The Byrds.

Good morning Richard.  Very hallucinogenic picture.  And blog.

Talk about being engulfed in your work.  I can only imagine the excitement whe the picture was finally taken and your foot was out of the water.  LOL

Ricahrd -bummer to end up squishing the rest of the day. But, at least to us observers, your wet footed discomfort was certainly worth the pleasure of reading your post and looking at your dizzying picture.

Great pic and great song....didn't think you were old enough to have heard that one!

Liz...

I saw the leaves swirling and thought: "How should I try to capture that?" I think I did okay! ;)

Mandi...

I love the cold freshness of mountain streams, but not necessarily wading in October!

Michael...

I waded out to a sandbar in the Atlantic with my camera case held above my head to get a shot like that. The things we do!
