To everything there is a season, and
a time to every purpose under heaven:
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Fall has commenced its annual color display in North Georgia. It's always been my favorite time to take photographs. We have had a few years of drought so I am not sure how good the color will be this year, but I always like to get out and experience the change of the seasons.
These are some of my first Autumn shots for 2008. In the south, the leaf period can be very long because we rarely experience early hard freezes. I have taken foliage photos well into December. But you never know what nature has in store, so you must move quickly to get the best looks at good color.
I will be adding many more photos as time allows, and hope to describe a lot of the North Georgia Region. These photos were taken near Blairsville, a small town nestled in the mountains.
I can't wait for next week, when I'll be taking another trip in search of autumn glory!

Richard, Thanks for sharing. That is about the ONLY thing that I don't like about living in Texas. Our leaves don't fall until December and when they do there is very little color they just turn brown and fall. The good news is that they are only missing for a short time as they start back at the end of February.
Now I am hooked. I look forward to the pics.
Marchel...
We have on and off years, but the last few have seemed exceptional. If it freezes too soon on the mountains all of the leaves turn brown, and drought tends to make the colors more subdued. But each year is different, and I look forward to the changes!
Mel...
I will keep then coming! lol
Richard those are absolutely beautiful pictures and I can't wait to see more.
Great pics Richard...Up here in the Nort land, we are seeing the decline in the colors...a lot of color on the fround though!
Anita...
They will be doled out as the need arises! lol
Bill...
But snowmobiling and ice fishing is just around the corner!
Hi Richard. I look forward to more pictures. You ice fish? Isn't that an excuse to get away from women and drink beer?
Thanks for writing,
Ken
Ken...
No, I don't ice fish here in GA! But my friend Bill Feela lives in Minnesota and he is quite the sportsman!
Richard,
Nice capture of the various colors - a good assortment instead of just one color, which I often get. :)
Steve
The colors are just stunning! We don't have a real autumn this far south, so I'll just live vicariously through the beautiful photos.
Richard, I love the areas of the country like yours that have the seasonal color. Great pictures as always.
Richard-Those are spectacular pics. Look forward to more. I hope the leaves around here get colorful. Right now they aren't. Mostly yellowish and brown. Two blogs again I see. Must be something got your engine revved up. Keep up the momentum. You'll be like a snowball barreling down the mountain.
Have a great evening-See ya on your next blog.
Oh, Richard! You captured some stunning shots! Falls is my favorite time, as well and the mountains of NC are gorgeous along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll get the chance to get up there this season - doesn't mean I can't capture some beauty locally, though.
Richard, You speak volumns with your pictures. Love these pics and hope that you have all of this color til at least November.
Richard,
Beautiful pics. Where did you take them? For all the readers out there, the last week or so of October is generally considered peak color time. Take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway and see for yourself!
Pretty cool Richard..when I lived in NY I used to drive along the highway upstate and catch the colors...now all I see is green....green...green! Oh well..at least it's warm here:) I'll be in NY for the weekend and maybe I can cat ch a quick look...
Richard - great shots, I am looking forward to getting some myself. Until then, let me share the rest of the ecclesiastes passage with you.
Steve...
It's still a little earky here, but I wanted to get started on posting new pics!
Lisa...
I have many "more intense" ones that I will post soon!
Gary...
I was concerned because of the drought. Thanks for the kudos!
Pat...
If I am going to make that goal I have to keep going. My post today is about just that!
This reminds me that it's time to ride up to the mountains and take a good look at all the leaves changing.
Richard- beautiful photos as always. Fall colors are the best in nature don't you think?
What a vivid sky in the second photo. Really stands out to me! Just as blue as the first pic, but the white clouds offer a lovely contrast. I just love autumn photos.
Richard - I spent hundreds of hours trying to duplicate McGuinn's riffs. Got close, but not quite. Try duplicating 8 Miles High
Another great post from the famous Richard Weisser. Please keep posting I injoy your post very much.
