There are a lot of stressful circumstances in today's world. The challenge of making a living, the ever rising costs of food and fuel, and an overall decline in the quality of life can easily put a strain on your disposition.
However, there is a place that should be a refuge far away from the pressure of everyday life. Your home should serve as a stress-free zone that is insulated from the effects of the outside world.
To do this, you must take proactive steps to keep a calm and tranquil atmosphere in your residence. Keep work related troubles at the office, and make time available at home for more esoteric pursuits.
The key is to find something that you enjoy doing that has a calming effect. Reading, gardening, crafts, and music can all be very relaxing pursuits.
Conversely, don't do anything that brings destructive emotions into the house. If you have to deal with stress-inducing issues, try to resolve them before you return to your home.
Make your house a safe haven, and you will be better equipped to handle each day in stride!

My wife and I made a deal with each other a long time ago that when we get home work doesn't come with us.
Great post - I wish my house was more tranquil...ah, the joys of teenagers!

You and your wife are two very smart cookies! Thanks, my friend!

Hopefully, they are off to College soon! lol and thanks.
If we can't find peace in our castle, we're really in trouble. I can pop my headphones in my ears, crank up a little motown and set off with the camera and I'm a happy man in about 30 minutes even after the worst day.

I have gotten so bad that the best "vacation" I can take is to stay at home. We really have a pleasant place to unwind here in Georgia! THX as always.
Richard - great advice, and now that they temps have gone down it will be easier to work out in my shop again (need to close a couple more deals so that I can afford to put in some A/C for next year).
You forgot to say: Turn off the TV; it is filled with negativity.
I am with Scott on this one. The teen challenge will continue for four more years in my home. There is only small moments of tranquility but that makes them well appreciated.
