It's a favorite method of writing for many journalists and bloggers Stream of consciousness allows thought to be put to pen exactly in the order they occur, akin to thinking out loud.
It permits ease of writing, as one need only type the percolating notions that one conjures in the order they appear, and the results are often charged with candor and wit. It is by far, one of the easiest and less stressful methods of creativity and I use it often.
But opening up your consciousness to public scrutiny has its perils. As your innermost thoughts are scribed, you deepest secrets are being revealed. Your personality is exposed through your words, and the digital distance no longer provides sanctuary.
Be wary of giving too much away. There are some things that are better taken off the table. Leave a little mystery, and you won't be painted into a typecast corner that limits your ability to deviate from the norm and expand your scope of creation.
Or, you can just be tired and in a hurry like I am now, and I know that when I read this post later I'll probably say:"Oh crap, what was I thinking?"

It's better that I give things a little thought first Richard! Some might say I'm a little wacky and definitely scattered! That becomes apparent soon enough :)
How much is too much, there is a fine line and I think it is different for everybody.
with most of my posts i try to make real Estate, the buying and selling process and what we do as Realtors more transparent to buyers and sellers.
do I sometimes cross the line? yeah I think so.
Anne
Hi Laura...
You are a bit in the Stream of Consciousness mode, but I believe that you write more from the heart than the brain, and I mean that in the best possible way!
Anne...
If I'm not writing about real estate, I'm writing about blogging, actually I'm blogging about blogging! lol
Guess there really is a fine line. When you think too much about it, you lose some of the creativity, but when you don't think at all, it can be scary. Thanks for the post.
Richard - after I reread much of what I post, I believe it was stream of unconsciousness. When I first glanced at the picture I saw the faces of pugs (pretty ugly mugs of pugs) until I focused on the shot. Very nice, again.
Richard, this would be more like it'
Bo
Opening up and keeping it 'real' is key. I say give it all away.
Richard is this one of the I was on mushrooms at the time posts? Maybe I need more coffee? I'm getting out the Shakespeare?
Michael...
Wow, you hit the nail on the head. Creativity comes from deep within the subconscious, so there has to be some of that added to the mix for interest. Excellent observation, thanks!
Mike...
Ha ... that photo doesn't really translate well to the small size, but it's one of my favorites. Fujichrome I believe, but I'm certain that it's a transparency. I don't see pugs though, maybe if I stare at it long enough...
Bo...
I have done the Weisser wiser lesser Wesser falls on the Nantahala many times! We used to drive up on Saturday, raft the river from the dam to the bottom of the falls, and then drive home. It's my favorite whitewater river, better than the Ocoee or the Chattooga!
Mel...
I know you do! That's why everyone is crazy about you!
Darin...
It's a fifty cent collection of five dollar words! lol and thanks, my friend!
Lately, the only steam I have been writing in is the steam of unconsciousness...lol. Thanks for the pep talk earlier, tho...I appreciate it.
Hey Richard, I am sorta leary about going back and re-reading some of my posts. Like you I would be saying OMG I said that? OOPS
Or, that makes people think I am crazy?
Clint...
You're a great guy and I know that a lot of folks here enjoy and appreciate your presence very much! Some days are funny, the comments roll in and some days are dead!
Don...
What we think sometimes can be dangerous! lol and thanks.
Mel...
Hmmm ... you may have a point there! Happy thoughts, happy thoughts!
Richard, here's my observation. Your blogging comes from and is inspired from the creativity in your photos. It is always a pleasure to read your posts and when you share your photos. Thanks.
Richard, way too funny one liner. (LOL) BTW, I loved your post. Enjoy your day. Regards, Carolyn. :-)
I like to hold back just enough to keep the other person wondering, Do I really know him, that way I may be able to associate with that person again if I so desire. Giving everything at once can scare the other party, either in business or personal, and I don't want to them scared unless I don't want to deal with them again! LOL
William- I will let you in on a little secret, we know you.
Richard,
I agree with your post and often approach mine this way. You're right about not discussing some subjects or in getting too personal.
Steve
Michael...
No doubt about it ... I work backwards from the photos ... Usually! Thank for your continued support!
C...
Thanks my Flushing friend! Your presence is ALWAYS appreciated!
Bill...
I was going to comment back but Mel said it for me! lol
Steve...
There are some things trapped up there that need to stay there! Thanks.
Richard,
Loose lips sink ships...on another note...
How come I have this picture of Grasshopper reaching for the petal out of his master's hand? Maybe it was the consciousness remark?
Lori...
HAH, I actually wrote a post about that once:
When you can take the pebble from my hand Grasshopper, it will be time for you to leave.
LOL Richard... There have been times when I have gone back and deleted posts!
Richard, I went and checked out your Grasshopper post. Very well done! I guess Grasshopper let the violence take over his life and he moved on and became Bill in Kill Bill 1&2! The peace just didn't work out for him....Sad :(
Richard - I have written several posts on the spur of the moment, straight from my mind to the computer. I ended up deleting them - they were too personal for my blog. Now I write everything in draft or wordpad and think about it and usually edit a little before I actually post them. My emails, though, are sometimes pretty transparent - I type fast and send before I think about it. Got myself in trouble a couple of times.
