Has this ever happened to you? You have two lovely ladies that want to be photographed together in similar festive attire ... and you only have one sombrero!
Well, it happened to me, and it created quite the conundrum. The problem was, how can I place the one sombrero on each lady and maintain some semblance of realism in the final picture..
The solution was quite simple! You simply photograph each of the women wearing the sombrero separately in a controlled area! The sofa made a great prop, because I could place each subject exactly where I wanted them. I moved one slightly forward to create the illusion of depth and perspective.
I carefully merged the photographs, meticulously aligning the stripes in the sofa. I had to make some adjustments to the brightness and contrast to create even lighting throughout the frame. The image that resulted is displayed here.
And always remember, just because it's in a photo, doesn't mean it's real. With today's digital cameras and manipulation tools, anything is possible!

So this is what Newnan Ga #1 Broker / Agent does all day -- line ladys up on his " sombrero sofa"
You are good..
George...
Is the world ready for that? lol

Eric...
People just don't know how hard I work! ;)
Isnt Photoshop grand...lol.
Richard, you are the MASTER of deception. I would have never known. I wish I had time for the pretty ladies in Sombreros in my day. You are one lucky guy.
Clint...
Well, I DID have to set up the shot! lol
Gary...
First, you start with ONE sombrero... ;)
That's amazing! This is a good lesson for us all. We will have to remember this when we see the Big Foot.
Pam...
How right you are ...ANYTHING can look real! Thanks for your comment.
Richard, Can I just use the software from my cannon digital camera on my computer or is there a specific software I would need to use? Very cool.
Audrey...
Any imaging software will work, Photoshop Elements is very good general purpose at a reasonable price. The process is NOT automatic, it takes skill and practice to make a believable merge! Thanks.
WOW. I always enjoy your work Richard.
Do you do this on a commercial basis or it a hobby that you have mastered?
Cameron...
I'm just a hack ... I like tinkering with stuff! Have never done anything like this for profit. Come to think of it, I'm not doing real estate for profit at this time!
RICHARD, LMAO.
Right now the the income is like a revolving door and the only one I know making any money is my locksmith. Sucker got back from a 12 day vacation 4 weeks ago and left for a 5 day mini today.
Cameron...
I had to change a deadbolt on a listing earlier this week. I bought one at Home Depot for $9.95 and had it on in 5 minutes!
Maybe I should try that for a living, then?
Richard,
I now know who I am going to send all of my crap photo repair work to. I am not sure what you did but it sure sounded good.
Really, it shows that when we know what we are doing it comes through in the final product.
Richard, you did a very good job of this. The stripes in the sofa are the convincing element.
Don...
And it shows that all of those "genuine" UFO photos are not so reliable after all! Thanks.
Michael...
The casual look can not tell it's a fake, but there are clues that something is amiss! Thanks.
Richard, this is a great post, it is fun to read, educational and also gives a little waring "do not believe everything you see" thank you
Anne
Anne...
That's the point, it's easy to doctor a photo! Thanks for the comment.
Richard - thanks for sharing, great way to have done it. I would have thought you photoshopped the sombrero onto one of them.
Hmmmm, digital photography, editing, bigfoot? Any connection there?
Mike...
Well. I wanted the sombrero at a different angle, and I believe that adding people is easier.
As far as bigfoot in GA? Oh, that HAS TO BE REAL! lol
This is an amazing photo, Richard. You are really quite good at this.
