OK after a lot of changes around here I've decided that it was time for a lighter subject material. As usual, I went to my photos for inspiration and I really like this fish photo I took a few years back, and I thought of all the usual fish themes.
You know, like "There's something fishy going on around here!" or "The big fish eats the little fish." Then I thought that there are life lessons that we can learn from fish, so here's my take on fish morals:
- Whether there's a meal around the next rock or not you have to keep swimming.
- Check for hooks before you take a free meal from anyone.
- The other fish might be bigger, so find a little niche to protect yourself.
- Once you're out of the water, what difference does it make if you become sushi or you are grilled or fried?
- The murkier the water, the less likely you are to spot trouble.
- You will prosper if you spend more time in schools!
- Don't go after the sharks; stick with what you can handle.
- And finally, there are many snares out there trying to trap you, keep alert and stay focused, and you'll make it to tomorrow!
So, that's my fishy thoughts for today. I wonder what's for dinner tonight?

I love this Richard!! The murkier the water (deal), the less likely you are to spot trouble. This is so true. All of these are true and very cleverly put together. It also reminded me of my step father, who was a very sweet man with a very corny sense of humor. Italians eat fish on Christmas Eve and every year he was with us, he would walk into the kitchen and say, "there's something fishy going on here". And because I have a very corny sense of humor too, I laughed, every year!
I always boil my shrimp before eating it...it gets rid of that fishy smell...Maybe I need to boil the contracts first just to make sure they smell good:)
This is too good! I needed to hear the one about going after the sharks. I tend to do that without giving it much thought. This almost makes me feel bad about having sushi for lunch today. Not enough to skip it, however...
Susan...
Ah, the "seven fishes!" My dad was not a big seafood fan so my Italian mother refrained from the practice, but that expression will always make you think of you step father! That's really very nice, and thanks for sharing!
Neal...
Some of my contracts lately have had a VERY foul smell LOL and thanks!
Mel...
Well, it's not going to get any fresher if YOU don't eat it! So I guess you'll be doing it a favor. ;)
Richard, We had salmon last night and they swim against the current to breed....now that is an unusual attribute. Go against the current to survive?
Good post
Bo
Richard,
Great Fish analogies are hard to come by. I like it.
Ok, now I do not feel so good.
Richard- I was trying to hard to think of another analogy and I couldn't come up with one. Now my head hurts! Another great post my friend!
Great thoughts on being fishy Richard. Schools are where many need to spend more time. They never can take an education away from you.
Richard -- Excellent post, my man! Loved every word...
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!
Richard: First, I love the vivid fish photo. And the fish theme you've chosen is great. Works well for us Realtors!
No additional analogy from me Richard...My head is still out on the lake where the bass were biting!
Good post!
Richard - very colorful picture, very thoughtful, I still prefer sushi
Bo...
Well, that is very true ... but don't we all do crazy things to find our special someones? Thanks, my friend!
Lori...
Thanks, I enjoyed writing this post!
Mel...
I have found the sushi can still "swim" hours after you've eaten it!
Lori...
I quit BEFORE my head started hurting! lol
Gary...
Oddly enough I always swam alone! I should have spent more time in schools. Thanks.
No, don't call me Ishmael, in the end the boats are sunk, the crew is dead, while only Ishmael and Moby Dick survive. All that effort and loss to have both the protagonist and antagonist survive. Is the point the struggle which informs learning and progress for both. Can a man or whale change their nature or is this the struggle? Melville, you confound me yet again!
BTW, great analogies!
Thank you sir,
There went my fried fish for dinner. But, dem gator tails are lookin pretty good right about now. :-))
Richard- the 'fishy' analogies are all well spoken and the photo is gorgeous.
Your words make a lot of sense, love the fish photo to go with it all. I have to agree with one of the other bloggers, about the schooling. Think you covered just about everything, what about stuffed fish with crab meat, yumm
Shrimps, you can't learn how to be a big fish if you're hanging out with other shrimp.
A lesson I've learned each time I started a new career.
If we look as clients as fish, it's important to remember than nets catch more fish than hooks.
RICHARD, This is the first time I have ever seen anyone take a fish and apply it to Real Estate. Fine job with much truth.
Think I'll go make a tuna sandwich and ponder my business.
Clint...
Thanks, my friend!
Jeremy...
And don't look back! lol
Chris Ann...
I really like that picture, thanks for "diving" in!
Mike...
Thanks my friend, I appreciate it!
Rich..
Two of my favorites, Melville and Stewie! Wow, great comment. Thanks.
Great! ; )
You're so right....Once your out of the water is doesn't matter if your fried or grilled! I got a chuckle out of that.
What serious stuff has been going on that I missed out on?
Richard,
I find this post a little fishy.....you could write a great post about a piece of string......
