I am a morning person. I get up early, and have never used an alarm clock. I do my best work with a cup of freshly ground coffee sitting on the deck, surrounded by flowers, a small fountain gurgling in the background.
I have my notebook on my lap, writing blog posts or checking emails, trying to get a jump on the day's tasks that need to be done.
Working outside in the early morning is a pleasant way to get started, and it occasionally yields unsuspected surprises. I was able to catch this beautiful sunrise photo on one such morning, and it has become one of my favorites.
It's so much easier to face the day when its start is so pleasant and beautiful. After enjoying such an experience, I can face ANYTHING!

Richard, first of all, what a beautiful picture!! I am not a morning person but I have been getting up earlier lately just for quiet time before my sons get up and turn on the TV!! What a view from your deck! That's incredible. Right now, I am enjoying reading posts, having a cup of tea with my new little puppy asleep in my lap!
Hi Richard, I am a morning person also and love to see the sunrise over the ocean, here in Vero Beach. I love your picture, it is awesome!! I am able to accomplish more before 9:00 am than any time after that. I enjoyed reading your post.
Richard,
I used to exercise first thing in the a.m. and now do it at night ....I get so much done before 9:00.....then I go to work......
RW,
I`m an early riser myself.. I like to complete everything before 10AM.
Heading out to the tennis court in an hour...
Susan...
AHA ... you had to get up early to snuggle with your little puppy! I was looking at puppies at the adoption center yesterday ... I almost got one but the one I chose was "on hold" for someone else. Thanks for the comment.
Barbara...
Isn't it just the best time of the day to get thgings done? Say hello to all in Vero Beach for me, nice to hear from you!
Julie...
I noticed that you didn't say that you ever STOPPED working! ;)
Scott...
Me too ...as a matter of fact ...I'm off to the golf course right now!
Richard - great shot and a great view from the deck (if that's where you shot it from). I, also, have usually been a morning person (ok, except in high school & college). I am just no longer a "crack o' dawn" morning person, except in winter when dawn comes a bit later.
Tee 'em high and let 'em fly!
Richard,
Like you I wake up early, normally before 5am without the help of an alarm clock, and enjoy the sarly start. I need to head out to the deck and enjoy my coffee, who knows I might have the experience of a super sunrise too.
Thank you my friend for the wake up call (picture).
Don R.
Morning Richard. Great pic as usual. Not as much of a morning person just because lifestyle says "Night Owl". But it doesn't stop me from some early morning fishing and hunting excursions.
I love you positive attitude and I am more a sunset person, but the few sunrises that I have seen were beautiful and it is a great way to start your day, combined with the right attitude.
There are just so many people out there that are "blind"

Mike...
Played much better than usual and lost by a wide margin! Go figure. My deck is an interesting place ... and it gets morning sun and evening shade so we can use it quite a bit! Thanks.
Don,,,
As Mark Twain said that golf was a "good walk spoiled" and I think my game "spoiled" my morning! lol
Bill...
So you just need a good reason to get up! lol
Anne...
I missed a great photo one day because I was in a hurry, and when I git to the office, my people had canceled. Now, I will stop when I feel the need! Thanks for the comment.
You described my perfect morning to a 'T'.
