Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

A life saved ... Just in the nick of time!

KittenAfter lunch today I went with a friend to a local animal shelter to look for a dog. Whenever I go there, I always have a look at the cats. I enjoy cats, and have rescued a few in my time but never one as important as this one.

I saw an adorable little kitten, all alone, looking very docile. I thought it was cute as can be, but there are many cute kittens in the world and I was sure he would be adopted by a nice family.

When we got back to the office, however, my co-worker emailed the link to the shelter website. The kitten was scheduled to be euthanized the very next day. I had several appointments, so I called the pound and asked if they could stay the execution for a few hours tomorrow so I could get the kitten.

No way! Rules are rules, and at 8:30 A.M. in the morning the kittens short life would be over. I was furious that no accommodation would be made to save the animal's life so instead I went into action.

I rescheduled my appointments and went and got the kitten. I had to. I can offer this little one a good and decent life, and I hope that he will be good company for LeMieux, my beautiful tuxedo cat.

I never dreamed when I set out this morning that I would have a new addition to the family. We don't have a name yet, but I think that "Phoenix" would not be out of the question. Just another day in the life of a real estate agent!

Richard ~ What a cute little face.  I'm allergic to cats myself, but can enjoy the pictures of them!  I agree, Phoenix seems like it would be apropos.  My hat is off to you for taking action.  It seems you were meant to visit the shelter today.

Richard,

I would have never thought that you, Richard the Interagator, would have such a soft heart.  However the kitten did have a really cute face with sad eyes.

Thank you for taking the time out of a busy to rescue one of Gods' little creatures.

Kathy...

I just had to do it! I'm sure he'll be a lot of fun!

Ron...

Yeah, I'm weak! What can I say? lol

Carolyn...

Thanks ... maybe the orb was real after all, because goodness abounds! Thanks.

Don...

I just think that these creatures are innocent, it was their former owners that were guilty of allowing such beauty to go uncherished. Thanks again my friend.

Good for you Richard.  Will the new addition be an inside or outside member of your family?

Bill...

We only do indoor cats. We aren't crazy about the "presents" that an outdoor cat will bring home. This little one should be fun!

I've heard about those presents... (LOL)

She is a little doll!  My nose itches just looking at her though.  It sucks!

I keep getting kicked off!  The rain is haunted today.

Richard, you are the man! I am a cat lover and would have am shelter myself if I could! Our local animal shelter has a no kill policy. They keep them until they are adopted! Isn't that awesome?

About a year ago my wife and I adopted a cat. He was so tiny and energetic, we couldn't help ourselves. Now that little bastard bites and attacks us all the time. He's never friendly or happy. It's a very nice thing you've done, but take that damn thing back before it's too late.

Carolyn...

It makes them so proud ... they are hunters by nature!

Anon...

I am slightly allergic too, but I love my kitty cats!

Mel...

Better than being kicked upon, Where have you been lady, you know I miss you terribly!

Lori...

I wish that were true here. We have several no-kill non-profits but the county will do away with them. I missed you terribly too, but at least I knew you were in Paris!

JL...

I have heard that pets are a reflection of their owners! lol

Well, it is my wife's cat.

Only one thing left to do then, learn to love it!

Richard - cute cat, great thing to do. My wife and I would love to do that, but she has this devil dog (I claim no relationship with it) that has to be an only animal. But, when he goes, new cute fuzzy critters come in.

What a cute face your new family member has!
