Spring beauty: It takes your breath away …literally!!!

Spring: It takes your breath away …literally!!!You can’t beat Spring in Georgia for the sheer beauty of all of the early flowering plants bursting forth at once.

But as with all good thing, the annual show comes with a high price … it becomes nearly impossible to breathe!

Even those not afflicted with allergies are affected by the sheep numbers of particulates in the atmosphere.

Lots of blooms equal lots of pollen and with no rain to wash it away the air develops a “texture” that makes it hard to swallow.

But I’ll take the side-effects any day!

The show is worth it!

Richard - You are right about the air being a bit thick, but I would not miss this for anything. Enjoy!

Good morning, Richard....I love your photos with beautiful flower beds and brilliant colors....I can't wait until the warmer weather is here in New England... it's cold and rainy today but I'll enjoy what you're sharing.

Great pictures Richard they represent Georgia well.  Your right though a 9,000 pollen count is hard to get past.

Beautiful photos!  Here in Texas our beautiful wildflowers and bluebonnets are everywhere and I love to take long drives to clear my head and feel the spring air.  It helps me keep a fresh attitude.  Have a great day and enjoy those beautiful flowers...hope you aren't too affected by the allergies.

Beautiful indeed.  The pollen here is so thick it is all over the cars and you can see it in puddles of water.  But you are right, it is worth it.

And hopefully we will get a little rain soon to wash it away! Thanks.

Barbara...

Our march has felt more like May. It's crazy, we are way above average in temperatures. THX.

Richard- I wish I felt as good as these photos look. I was up from about 3:30-5 last night with a pounding headache. Probably the worst I've had in years. The older I get the more this pollen affects me. I've had flu like symptoms for about a week now. Ready for it to be over. Bring on the Rain!

I just love your pictures...and they are pollen free! As for me, I am thankful for the rain we had over the weekend that made breathing much easier.

Richard, I've never had allergies. But this morning while at a home inspection, I noticed my eyes itching and watering and could feel the conjestiion setting in. I had to go inside to get away from it. But I do enjoy the beautiful blossoms.

Hi Richard, Well, from a sheer beauty point of view these sights are amazing and I never get tired of seeing all this. Thankfully I don't suffer too much with allergies so I seek these sights out as often as I can. Beautiful photos Richard!

Have I outgrown my hay fever???  Or, has the right pollen simply not appeared???  Some years I sneeze through the spring.  This year, so far nothing.

Folks around me have red noses, beary eyes and inhalers at the ready.

For me, nothing - - - - yet.
