“Spring forward” charged the chronometer’s keeper,
“And more daylight time you will retrieve.”
The numbers change, but not my inner sleeper,
At the end of the day it’s only make-believe!
(R Weisser 2012)
It’s “Spring Forward” Sunday and I am already reeling from the effects of the annual time-adjustment ritual.
I have always marveled at the concept. We “change” time and it becomes so only because we say that it is so. We are all participating parties to a pact that allows us to dictate the very definition of time and it’s relevance to us.
But my body knows when it is time to go to sleep and when it is time to wake up.
And no edict from the keeper of the clocks can change that!

Just got up to get to my standing 8:00 committment on Sundays, and I am not a happy camper. Oh well, this too shall pass.
Yes - we can look forward to falling back! As much as I wanted to go to bed early last night - it did not happen. Yes Melissa - it shall pass in North County!
I gotta admit it -- I am fine with losing that hour of sleep and "adjusting." The extra daylight is soooo worth it.
It may be all make believe but I LOVE daylight savings time. I love having more time in the evening and not feeling like I need to rush out of work to get home and get the dogs all taken care of while I can still see them.
I wish they'd leave DST year round. In my opinion Arizona and Hawaii have it right and the rest of us should follow their lead. We went to Church last night knowing we'd be lazy this morning. Many others must have been on the same page as there were over 1,100 people there at just the first service we attended.
At least now I'll be waking up earlier. I'm not one to wake to an alarm clock either.
I too love more light in the evenings....hopefully time to enjoy the patio and fish pond this year. But since I have discovered my peak performance time is early in the am, I suspect it will take an alarm clock for a few days to get me in sync with my desire to get up at 6am.
Hmmmmm.....
My body has no sleep rythum so the time change is just another day for me.
