Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Furnace on? Check. Ready for Winter? Are you kidding?

Fall Foliage in Coweta County GAAs the first chill of the season stealthily descended into Newnan Georgia last night, I turned on the furnace for the first time this year.

It served as an unpleasant reminder that the cold, dark days of Winter are just around the corner. And although I can’t do anything about it, it is a bit depressing to say the least.

One of the reasons that I moved to Georgia so many years ago was to escape the frigid Winters of Western Pennsylvania. By contrast,Georgia enjoys a relatively temperate climate.

But with each passing year of living in the South, it FEELS colder to me. Perhaps it is just age, but my preference would be a life of perpetual Spring and Autumn with mild days and cool nights.

But ready or not, Winter is on the way. And it’s time to prepare for it!

And I’m already looking forward to Spring.

Richard,

I'm with Barbara. After our summer, I welcomed the sound of our furnace coming on the other night. But growing up near you, in central Ohio, I too have flashbacks when signs of looming cold weather, come my way.

Have a great weekend.

Good morning, Richard....I always look forward to that first snow fall of many inches....the ground is pure white with no flaws....the ugliness comes with the sanders and trucks and salt.....

Hi Richard - I had to turn my heat on one day in September--the earliest for me ever.  I too like the cold less as I grow older!

We usually have leaves well into November, but this is a funny year. Thanks for jumping in this morning.

I as well am looking forward to spring.  Just last night I made my spring garden plan.  Check the airfares, get a deal on a warm weather destination.  Keep thinking pleasant thoughts and we'll get thru the dead of winter.

Celebrate it! Life would be so boring without the change of the seasons...Spring would have no meaning without Winter. Plus....it's time to SKI!

24 degrees this morning.  I had to put on a shirt to go outside to put a log on the fire.

Hi Richard -

Just another great reason to live in Albuquerque. Still 80's for day highs and lows in the 40's but with no humidity no heat or AC is required for now. I have changed the heating filter and changed the AC over to heat just in case we wake to a surprise on of these mornings.  Hopefully we have another month before the heat needs to be turned on.

Best regards from the Q

Richard- I hear ya, which is why we're in South Florida.  My husband is from Kansas and also lived in Colorado but says the same thing as you... can't take the cold like he used to.
