Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Chattahoochee Bend State Park in Coweta County Georgia is Georgia’s Newest State Park.

Chattahoochee Bend State Park is now open! Located in Coweta County Georgia, the 2,910 acre state park is one of the largest in Georgia. It officially was dedicated and opened on July 1, 2011.

Chattahoochee Bend State Park is now open in Coweta County GA

The park has frontage on nearly 7 miles of the Chattahoochee River, and the public can access the river via an all-weather boat ramp. But the river is just part of what the park has to offer.

There are picnic sites along the river, pavilions which can be reserved for large groups, camping facilities for both RVs and tent campers, playground facilities, and currently six miles of hiking trails.

Daily access is only $5 per vehicle, or an annual Georgia Park Pass can be purchased for $50 which allows access to every State park in the Georgia system.

To get to the park take Mt. Carmel Road West from Newnan until it dead ends and turn right! Follow the signs to Chattahoochee Bend State Park.

Richard,

Now that is very encouraging...a State that is actually opening a new facility for it's citizens, during these tough economic times.

Anne...

As a "Friend" of the park, I will have year-round access and I plan to spend a lot of time there. It's the biggest thing to hit Coweta County in years.

Rich...

It's a great story. The land was acquired years ago and with all of the budget cuts, the opening of the Park was delayed several times. Then the state agreed that if some of the work such as trail building was done by volunteers, the park could be completed. The "Friends of Chattahoochee Bend" got the job done and now we have a brand new park!

Great localism post for the park in Coweta County...considering the lack of funding in all areas it is so nice that locals have a place to enjoy that is so reasonable!

Chattahoochee is such a fun word to say.  That is an unbelievable picnic pavillion there!  Go for you for being a friend to the park.

It's refreshing to hear of a new state park opening as so many states and the federal government seem to be cutting back and even closing some parks.

Ginny...

There is a day use fee for all Georgia State Parks, and by becoming a "Friend" you get access to every park and every historic site. It's a true bargain, and we have some great parks in the state!

Richard, we so enjoy the state parks. We have been both tent campers and RVers. This park looks to be a great way to spend a day or a weekend.
