Is it just me or did Summer just fly on by at warp speed? It seems like just a few weeks ago I was writing about Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
But as the hours of daylight wane and the night air finally begins to cool, it’s time to start thinking about sampling some muscadines and scuppernongs or heading to the mountains for some fried apple pies.
The tomato vines are starting to wither from old age. Here in the South, they rarely make it until frost as the inherent genetic maladies erode the vigor of new growth and the vines simply succumb to “old age.”.
And the migrating hummingbirds are passing through on their way to warmer winter climes. We counted fifteen around the feeder yesterday.
Fall is just around the corner. And although we’ll still reach 90 degrees in Newnan Georgia today, Summer’s grip is loosening.
I hope that everyone has a great holiday weekend!

It doesn't seem possible that the summer is almost over. It's been a doozy from hot weather, to severe thunderstorms to great real estate business. I'm ready for some cool evenings and a little R&R.
It certainly is the end to an incredibly eventful summer.....I am sorry to see it go.
Yup! The last official holiday weekend of the summer. Hope it is a great one for you Richard...
HA! Those tomato vines are not the only things withering from age.
Those damn genetic maladies.
Cindy...
I love Fall. It's my favorite time of year. THX
Jeremy...
It went by so fast! Thanks.
Michael...
Back at ya my friend. Thanks so much.
Lenn...
lol and thanks.
Time does go quickly...It will not be long until we are eagerly anticipating spring's arival. As for me, I am headed to Georgia for a four day weekend!
As the summer ends I have mixed feelings if I want to see it go or glad to see it go. I want to see the Fall season come in with changes to help stimulate our economy and our industry, as I dread going through another season of scrimping and scraping for every and all transaction.
Richard,
I can tell you one thing I'm not going to miss about the Summer...the blistering heat we've had this year. I'm really looking forward to a Fall respite.
Rich
Richard, I find it hard to believe another season is about to pass, but I look forward to the fall foliage with excitement as well.
It has passed quickley. It is time for one season to end and the other season to start. Fishing is almost done and Hunting is just around the corner.;-)
My favorite time of year is approaching, that in between time...pre-fall & fall in Georgia are spectacular weather wise.
Have a great weekend, Richard.
I am ready for cooler weather. The summer did go by in a flash, but that's the way it always does. One day you can't believe it's here...the next you are wondering where it went.
richard...i wondered what happened to the hummingbirds in the last week...so thanks for sharing that tidbit! i enjoyed the warmth of summer ...it's the long winter here & it's long since i stopped skiing! music this weekend here if Earl doesn't drown us out...best to u & yours
For me summer was very different. Most of it was spent inside recovering so it almost seems like I didn't have a summer. Bummer! Anyway, the thought of Fall is good and I am looking forward to the change in the season.
I hate to think of Summer slipping away. I'm holding on to it with a firm grasp for as long as I can. By the way, I'm headed to Atlanta in a few weeks for a wedding, do you have suggestions for things I should see while i'm there?
The older I get the faster the days fly by.... I hate that.
I can remember as a child how each day just slowly meandered by. Now each day is at warp speed.
I feel likean old tomato.
Coming to you from Texas....
Stacey-Ann...
Don't miss the Georgia Aquarium, The World of Coke, or the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Oh, and Stone Mountain if you have never been there!
Richard- So glad that summer is loosening it's grip here in the south. I'm working on a fall garden though it might be too late, but being able to take some time outside in the evenings is very refreshing.
Thanks richard. Hope you have a great holiday weekend too. May the GPS keep us on course for some cooler weather.
Tis true Richard. Thankfully here in San Diego, CA. it always seems to feel like spring or summer. Not too much fall or winter around these parts. Hope you have a great Labor Day weekend to say farewell to summer.
oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Don't say that....
