Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Nothing like a little physical labor to get your mind right!

Newnan SunsetI just spent all day helping some friends move, There was plenty of packing involved in addition to moving a lot of heavy furniture.

And now I am very tired, but it a good kind of tired, The kind of weariness that comes from a day of hard work and strenuous physical activity.

It’s a good feeling that renews the spirit and clears the cobwebs inside the old noggin!

But even though I feel the better man for doing it, I’m sure gad that I don’t have to do it again tomorrow!

Good job on being a good friend. I spent the afternoon moving horse manure around so I know the tired feeling. I too was helping a friend.

I prefer a glass of wine and a good book, but if helping someone move is your thing then more power to you!  :-)

Richard - Physical activity can certainly help "clear the cobwebs of the mind," and helping others helps us keep things in perspective.

Richard, fabulous service. However, "my back went out." But I'm willing to contribute to a POD or some day laborer.

That kind of tired does feel good (once in a while) - & your lovely picture makes me feel calm & relaxed just to look at it!

Richard:

One of the jobs that none of us look forward to is moving. It takes a true friend to help out with this task. I am always amazed watching professional movers getting pieces of furniture to get through the narrow doorways. I hope you did not put a strain on your back.

Richard:

Your post title is what drew me to read your post.  90% of my working life has been in an office and I'm very grateful for all of my accomplishments.  However, there is something about physical labor that allows your eyes to really see what you have done that is rewarding.  Most days when I leave my office the whole scene looks pretty much the same.  I've accomplished virtual work.  When I leave a job site after a full day of working with Habitat for Humanity (for example) I look back over my shoulder and SEE what I helped others accomplish.  There is a difference.

Hi Richard.  I love doing a little old fashioned "work"...

Love mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, etc...

Clears your mind.

Thanks for writing,

Ken

Richard, You are truly a good friend to help in such a way.  Hard labor once in a while is great to get the cobwebs out as you said and makes one sleep like a baby at night.

I've had a few periods in my life where I've cleaned houses for a living.  Doing hard labor for an income, one has to put on a different mind set.  Good money but, gosh so hard at times.

Great photo!

Hi Richard,

I think one of the best things for the mind (and body) is some good physical labor or a good workout.  The tired feeling is way better than the emotional exhaustion that comes after some other days.
