It was a typical summertime Friday night in the South. It was hot and humid, and the old watering hole was more reminiscent of a scene in a 1950’s “B” movie than a contemporary night spot.
The plastic fans were whirring, but the air was barely moving and the heat was stifling. But we were there to make music that is exactly what we did.
I am not certain if I was delirious from the sultry heat or affected by the attempted remedy of cold beverages, but the music was awesome.
And the crowd actually multiplied over the course of the evening, as the melodic strains wafted through open windows onto the two-lane highway and drew them them away from the comfort of their air conditioned vehicles.
The point is, that hen you are committed to doing something, even the most adverse conditions cannot prevent you from succeeding.
And if you do you best rather than trying to just “get by” the rewards are sure to follow.

Hi Richard, This is so true, and afterwards more rewarding. jay
I spent the evening in an indoor venue watching a couple of local bands. Tonight we're taking my daughters to see Rascal Flatts at an outdoor venue...
Tom
Great message in this post. Circumstances should not hender anyone from accomplishing their goals. Sounds like you had a great time last night.
Ah ha! So that's why you were a little later than usual posting this morning...sounds like a fun evening.
So true Richard...but it's oh so hard in the heat & humidity of the summer...
Right on... one of my favorite things to do. Although us folk up in the Northwest don't have to deal with the heat so much. Our's is probably all the same things for a different challenge, it's winter and it's pouring down rain, damp, and cold... but let's get out there and rock the world!
Sounds like a fun time Richard and a great message unfolded in this post as well. And it can be so joyous to "overcome".
Richard the more active the crowd becomes, the more fun you have, and the louder the crowd the happier the owner is because the bar is really working and after a while few feel the heat, except for what is generated by the band
Richard....I'm sure you had as great of a time as the people who were listening to you play.....
I guess I am going to have to truck on down to Newnan and what all the hub-bub is about!
Richard, Maybe you should post a video of you band playing so we can enjoy the awesome music too.
Richard, Great point about being committed to what you are doing and sticking to the job.
ROCK ON RICHARD!
Richard...it had to be the heat...Alcohol, in beverages evaporates faster than water...so blame it on the heat!
Richard, I so wish you would make a video of you playing the guitar!
Your message is loud and clear, great way to let us know to persevere despite the odds. And the heat.. LOL.
So true. Nice axe...
Richard:
If you put into music what you do with your writing, that must be one rocking band. I would love to hear you play some day.
Richard I had a 17 piece band in CA - sold it when we moved to AZ. We played a lot of outside concerts and outside weddings, and in the tuxedos it would get really hot. As the leader, I had to keep mine on as long as I could stand it because as soon as mine came off, everyone would follow suit.
I was the drummer so I had a wet jacket pretty quick. But along about the middle of the second set, when the guests were feeling no pain is when we would take our jackets off, and no one would notice - or care
