Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Big world v. small world. It’s all in how closely you look at it!

Hibiscus lovers bonded for a moment! One of my idiosyncrasies is that I am not much of a traveler. I haven’t really seen much of the world or even the country during my time, as my preference is to stay close to home and to sleep in my own bed at night.

But that’s not to say that I don’t have any interest in the world around me. I have always delighted in exploring my environment up close and personal, and I find plenty of “places” to explore in my own region and even right in my own back yard.

Whether the focal point of my interest is a flower in bloom or an assemblage of bricks stacked a certain way, I take delight in simple shapes, forms and colors. If you add fragrance to the mix, I am in Shangri-La.

So while I have never had the opportunity to photograph the Coliseum in Rome or the Eiffel Tower in Paris, I have plenty of plenty of subjects right here that will keep me busy taking pictures for many years to come.

And loving every minute of it!

Richard..sometimes we are so occupied by things so far away we do not see the beauty all around us!!

Richard, I used to love to go places. Now, staying right around here with my camera tied to my neck is good enough for me. You are right, there is so much to see right under our noses.

And, if I feel like taking a trip I can just log on to AR and see the US at its best!

OK, I would not turn a trip down to Paris or Ireland, or many places, but my own world expanded when I started taking photos.

Richard, have you ever read "Acres of Diamonds?"

One of the premises of the book, written by the founder of Temple University, is that just about anything you want in the world is probably right in your back yard.

I feel the same way. I'd love to travel to a handful of places some day like Paris and Asia, but I am content discovering New York, which can take a lifetime.

It is amazing what we see if we open our eyes to our surroundings.  Great pictures.

Richard...through the eyes in your camera you definitely do not live in a small world!!!  thanks for giving us a glimpse of it!

Richard.....there is so much to see in our own country, I have no desire to go to other countries....I've hit every island and if you've seen one, you've seen them all....I still love cape cod beaches the best.

Great Pics Richard.  While My wife and I travel some, I am not interested in over seas travel.  I have not seen very much of what we have to offer right in our own country...why do I want to take my money else where.

Richard, it all boils down to "there is no place like home". It seems every time we go on a trip after a couple of days, we can't wait to get back home.

Richard, it is important to recognise the worlds arounds us, once you start to see it you realize how much is going on right out in our own back yards...nice shots. Have a great weekend

Richard, you are certainly an explorer and capture the smallest details that most would miss!

Richard, I love to tell a story about camping at a site near my home. One of the neighbor sites was chatting it up with my son and I . They asked where we were from? I said we live a mile from here. He laughed and said you really get out and explore don't you? That night it poured buckets of rain...we got in the car and went home. When we returned to bear camp our neighbors had everything hanging from trees, were muddy and looked miserable. I said I went home and slept in a warm dry bed.

Nothing wrong with being close to home.

Richard,

I too love staying near home...and you are right...there are so many things to appreciate right here!

Beautiful photos!  As you so succinctly put it -- some of your best subjects are in your own back yard.

Richard:  It's not where you go, but how much you enjoy where you are.  I've traveled to some neat places and had better times in my own backyard.

Hi Richard,

Through our eyes ( the lens) the world around us is fascinating no matter the location. With photography, we see the world of details and when we share it, others see them differently, more completely and often for the first time.

Richard - I really like that shadow across the center of the flower in the last picture. The world is as big or as small as we want to make it. I have been around the world, across the equater, in over 20 countries and enjoy the travel, but also enjoy home. Keep the pictures coming.

I'd love to see Italy someday, maybe I will or not. I'm just content to be here among the familiar things of everyday life. Your photos are amazing Richard!

With all of the beautiful photos you take, I would have never guessed that you didn't travel much.  One would never know.

Hi Richard!
I am not a world (or even United States) traveler either.  That being said, your photos introduced me to another world I would otherwise have not experienced. Keep up your travels!

Richard, I prefer to explore not just my own backyard, but our beautiful country. I'll do that first before visiting another country. Awesome photos you took. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Richard, your photos are awesome.  If we all just saw the world around us thru your eyes, none of us would have to venture far to experience the beauty.  That being said, traveling exposes us to more that just the beauty around us; it introduces us to other peoples and cultures and gives us a better understanding of the world around us.

Beautiful photos, Richard. I take many more photos of what's happening in my back yard than I do when I travel. I guess because I have more time to watch what's going on and see the details.

Keep it up!
