Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Everything that we’ve done up until now is just water over the dam.

Its just water over the dam by Richard WeisserThe real estate business typically can be very cyclical, with very busy periods followed by lulls in activity that might encourage taking a ‘breather” every now and then.

It’s easy to rest on our collective laurels, immersed in the satisfaction that results from a job well done and its accompanying compensation.

But like every other sales jobs, all of the completed transactions are just water over the dam. And while we may have worked very hard to get previous jobs done, it’s time to move on to the next one with new clients and new challenges.

The flow of real estate business is dynamic and constantly evolving. If we are to survive, we need to continually adapt to the every changing demands of the marketplace.

Because the way we did business last year, last month, or even last week may not be good enough to get the job done today!

The way we did business last year is definately NOT good enough for this year.

It is as it has always been.

The economy will not shape to suit our business model.

We MUST shape our business model to suit the economy.

Good Morning Richard, there is always something new in real estate each day. Whatever it takes to get the job done is what counts. Short of standing on a street corner in a bikini holding holding an open house sign, lol. That is where I draw the line. Have a great day Richard!

Richard.....this is the one business that requires continual effort and that effort needs to continually be improved and must adapt to an ever changing economic environment.....success in this profession is tough to maintain.

Richard, unlike my previous profession, real estate is very difficult precisely because we just don't know about the future and it's impact on our business.

We were talking about this yesterday.  I am thinking that we will be seeing a lot of ebb and flow again this year and we will need to be quite flexible in our business models.

Richard, it really is a "what have you done for me lately" business. If you don't keep your funnel full of leads now you will be twiddling your thumbs later.

Richard:

Just when I think I have seen everything, a totally new scenario comes out of left field. We have to be constantly learning and adapting in this business to survive.

In sales you are only as succesful as the next sale....no rest for the weary successful!

Richard:  It's like Janet Jackson's most annoying song ever, "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" plays on a loop in our heads.  It's always about what's next.  Great salespeople always look forward.

Richard, every day seems to be a challenge in this business. We are only as good as our next sale. Thanks.

Just when you think you have a good handle on the game...they change the rules.  It  is hard to stay on top of the changing market.  It is even harder to cover a large territory.  Each little pocket out there can be very different.

Richard, true. The goal is to maintain your marketing efforts to maintain a steady flow of business in the pipeline. Easy to say but difficult to do...

Helping you help others live their American dream...

Richard, much like a football quarterback, you are only as good as your last win, we are only as good as our last sale. It is an endless cycle that we must repeat as often as we can, there is no time to sit on our collective laurels, great post...

This is so true.  We just have to keep moving with the business, even when we don't feel like it.

We must evolve with the times are we will be left in the dust.  That means less revenue.
