A friend and I made arrangements to meet at “The Hollow” restaurant for lunch the other day. When we got there, the parking lot was completely empty. We were wondering if the restaurant had decided to stop serving lunch
As we climbed the steps to the entrance, we noticed a letter taped to the door. The letter indicated that after 24 years in business, the restaurant had permanently closed due to the current economic climate. The letter also thanked their customers for their patronage,
We were taken completely by surprise. The last few times that we had eaten there, it appeared to us that business was picking up. We thought that all was well and that the business would continue in operation.
Even long established businesses are not immune to the negative forces of the economic downturn. It’s a struggle for many just to keep their doors open.
And every time we lose one of them, our community is diminished, and there is a void that will not be filled any time soon.

Sad to see some of our favorite places go out of business. In this economy anything can happen.

Good evening Richard,
It is very sad to see the life blood of communities close because they can't make a living. Times are hard Pat is right..anything can happen in these economic times.
Richard,
Wow. You would think that after 24 years in business they would be able to survive the downturn. We can all relate to some long time agents packing it in too.
Rich
Hi Richard, I'm with Richard. After 24 years you would think they would be ok. Looks like it's because consumers are cutting back and going out to eat is one of them. It's sad to see these happen.
Hi Richard...It's a shame when long time business close. What I have found interesting in Fredericksburg is that one business closes and another opens in its spot, same with restaurants. Hope springs eternal.
Kate
So sad. Like the others before me, I'm surprised that even with the longevity the Hollow maintained in Newnan, they couldn't survive the economic downturn.
It's always sad to see a well established local business go under. Soon to be replaced by a chain without the same type of local character.
My first thought..the 70s song "Another one bites the dust!"...a shame!
Richard: I hate it when the community loses a favorite neighborhood restaurant or shop. I know we'll be happy when the econony recovers. It won't be a minute too soon.
Richard..It is like losing a good friend when one our favorites close.
Richard doesn't that leave a sick feeling in your stomach and not because you are hungry. Sad news.
Oh, no! That has happened in San Antonio, too. I hope the rest of our favorite restaurants can hang on until the economy recovers.
Cheers,
Robin
This exact same thing happened to me. I was bringing a client to a place that had been around forever and a day. Poof! Closed. Very sad.
Oh no!!!! I LOVED their catfish, hushpuppies, and cole slaw..... Wow!!! Well, at least we still have Golden's
