After a particularly cold winter in Newnan Georgia, we have bypassed cooler Spring weather and apparently moved right into summer. But Mother Nature still has some surprises for us, including a late azalea display that is intense and profuse.
The azaleas typically peak about around April 1, but this year was far from typical. So as a result of all of the weather madness, we are enjoying Spring blossoms well after their “time!”
And by now, the ground is warm enough for Summer annuals and vegetables, so it’s imperative to get them planted before the really hot weather arrives.
But it’s hard to think about laboring in the yard when there is so much beauty to be seen and enjoyed. Maybe I’ll be able to sneak another photography session in today!

Very beautiful! We still have some azaleas blooming here in Maryland!
wow, you're way ahead of us, but this is a glimpse of what we have to look forward to... up our way the forsythias, crocuses and daffodils are in bloom and the tulips are up next.
Thanks for sharing your pictures. We are also enjoying the colors of spring in Maryland.
Richard.....beautiful colors....we are not in bloom yet....we now have buds....and plenty of rain....if the sun ever shines again, we'll have flowers.
The flowers are beautiful. I guess you are correct sometimes it does pay to be late.

Richard, I remember the profuse azalea displays in GA, we can't match that here! Although we have them, they are NOTHING like what you have. I hope that camera is out today and taking shots for all to see!
Richard, from your photos it looks like it was well worth the wait. Thanks.
Richard - Your spring is so far ahead of ours we have daffodils, crocuses, and tulips out in our garden. The roses have new green shoots, and the trees are just starting to show new life.
I love the sight of azaleas this time of the year! Beautiful pictures!
Beautiful flowers. It's difficult for me to think about working in the yard at any time. Especially in the summer here when it's 110 degrees outside.
Good morning Richard,
Your photos are lovely and I hope you are able to sneak some more time dedicated to flower pictures! Your array of showy plants are breathtaking..thanks for sharing !
You're about a month ahead of us.
Sadly, I lost a number of shrubs through the severe winter months.
Today, I'm replacing about 20 lost plants. I'm also planting some summer bulbs. Love the blossoms.
All I can say is, wait until next year.
Richard, we pulled a full reverse yesterday, after a month of warm spring weather...we got 3 inches of snow yesterday. I am ready for summer.
Still waiting for spring beauty around here - but the aspens are budding so the wait shouldn't be long. What a wonderful opportunity for you to get out and shoot- the yard can wait!

Beautiful colors. My favorite is the first one--gorgeous!
It was beautiful here last weekend and the azaleas are so very vivid this year. Loving it!
Richard,
The colors of Spring are so short lived, take the time an enjoy them. The Dog Days are not too distant.
Rich
Richard, you are a few weeks late and we are a few weeks early. Our Friend Don who is in the middle must be right on time!
Great pictures. Nature at it's finest. A present from our God to see the beauty for us to enjoy.
Been some crazy weather this year. Even my azaleas are still blooming. They are just starting to loose the blooms.
Richard, that is one thing that I really miss about living in GA, the azaleas...
Helping you help others live their American dream...
Richard, the azalea background at the Masters last weekend in Augusta were missing a bit of their splendor, but were still impressive. Our Sunday morning started out with frost and a bit of wind chill, so we can expect summer to arrive sometime in August.
Hi Richard, you are still ahead of us. I have 1 bloom on our azalea bushes. Spring is slow this year.
We had an unusually cold, then wet, spring in San Antonio. In response, the wild flowers have exploded into bloom along the Texas highways. I have never seen so many before.
I look forward to more of your photos, Richard!
Cheers,
Robin
I love Azaleas. We plant many of them last year --- I thought my choice locations were acidic enough..not so. They ALL died. I am envious.
Hi Richard, The pinks and reds of Azalea are most people's favorite. Mine happens to be the white ones. The South is rich in Azalea displays and Dallas Texas , where I used to live was no exception. Like Michael said he misses about not living in GA., I miss in Texas.
