Sometimes the struggles of everyday life can become an all-consuming obsession. It is very easy to fall into a daily ritual of doing what is necessary to survive.
Work days are divided into ever growing “to-do” lists, with most of our efforts being applied to mundane exercises and perfunctory obligations.
Some years ago, it might have been said that the indicators of change were temporary, mere blue blips on the overall radar screen of life.
Many are still attempting to ride out the storm in a futile attempt to endure the tempest until the winds subside and calm returns.
Ignoring the harsh realities will not make them go away. Sometime introspection followed by action in the only way to alter ones destiny.
You never know where the unfamiliar road will take you.
You will always only know where you have already been.

Great post. Yes we need to have the do-to lists...but we must look at the market and see if what is on the list still applies.
Richard.....we do need to take action when the harsh reality hits us in the face....success will depend on how sharp one's skills are in selecting the action.
Richard - you are right, we always need to remember the "big picture".
We all need to stop and think about the future. Being a realist is what will keep us on our toes.
There is comfort in a familiar road but you want excitement? Try the unfamiliar until it becomes familiar. The bumps may sting but the ride is exhilarating!
Diane...
It seems like it changes every day, doesn't it? Thanks for the comment.
Barbara...
Oh perhaps whimsy ... some people get away with it! Thanks my friend.
Ina...
And sometimes that's a long way "down the road!" Thanks so much.
I realized that my to-do list is never going to be completely done. . I need two of me
I prioritize and say NO a lot these days
Excellent post Richard, as allways
Richard, taht is today's adventure not knowing exactly where we are going at all times. BUT, knowing where we have been, helps in making the decision on which direction to take that is up ahead.
Richard - Sigh....
Richard...This reads like a poem, though technically it's not.
Your point is excellent. I can't add any additional insight. The group covered it. Well done!
Richard, to do lists are wonderful things, if we can stay focused and get them done. The road has so many twists and turns these days I just try to go with the flow!
Richard, I learned alot about change when I read "Who Moved My Cheese" several years ago. Life is one day at a time and a journey.
Ah yes, the "to do" list. It's a beautiful thing...as long as we're enjoying the journey!
Good morning Richard,
Keeping focused on the big picture is a must. I agree with Lisa "Life is one day at a time and a journey."
I love unfamiliar roads, but I also must have my to-do list. I try to keep them balanced.
Richard.....great reminder! Thanks and have a great day!

There are days that I feel like the Doe Doe bird that flies backwards. Don't really care where I am going, just to see where I have been ~ LOL...

Hi Richard, I think it's easy to lose our vision with day to day tasks, good reminder to keep our eyes open for possibilities and on the road ahead. Your photograph is simply gorgeous.
Hi Richard, We've got to remember to stay focused on our goals and not get smothered in the everyday tasks that often times bury us. We've got to move forward. It's not only about the destination, it's about what we learn along the way.
None of us can truly judge what lies ahead, only know where we have been and where we would like to go. But not knowing what will happen tomorrow is one of the best reasons to look forward to tomorrow.
