The morning after the Spring time change always leaves one a little bleary and confused. It seems like such a silly notion to defy nature and to alter time in a futile effort to improve productivity or life in general.
Especially since the biannual switch was designed to accommodate the average 9:00 – 5:00 worker and allow ample light to work in a ‘Victory Garden.” Since few workers are on a regular daily shift now and even fewer still have a garden that requires tending in the late hours of the evening, the practice seems a bit outdated.
It leaves in its wake a bunch of sleepyheads that take weeks to adjust to later sunrises and sunsets. But it is what it is and we all have to deal with it in our own way.
The world waits for no one, and time marches on. So have a second cup of coffee and get going!
I think that I’m going to need a third cup!

Richard - It always seems to be a struggle to "lose" the hour now. And I know it really throws some folks off big time. Interesting reminder of why this began in the first place!
It's a lot simpler when we live by our internal clocks. You wake up when you wake up and you go to sleep when your brain wants to sleep.
No struggle. Just listen to your body.
Morning,
It's an ugly hour we lose, but the victory is reaped from now till fall with our expanded sunlight and the arrival of spring.
Enjoy all
Susan...
It seems so silly to me, but I've dealt with it for all of my lifew so I should be used to it by now. lol and thanks.
Lenn...
In a perfect world, yes, but alas, mine is far from perfect. Thanks so much for adding your $.02!
Good morning sir,
After my second cup of joe I just may be ready to face the day. Thanks for the Red Bud to start my day.
Richard, I really enjoyed this one because time does not wait and I am chuckling to myself because I am indeed bleery eyed *YAWN* and have yet to have a first cup of coffee. I better get that now and have a great Sunday! BTW I really like your blossom pictures, my peach trees are covered in pink blossoms that just began blooming on Friday!
Richard, we need more sleep! Losing an hour always kills me this time of year!
Confused is one word for me right now. Crabby would be another. Happy Spring Forward to you!
Richard, can you have jet lag from setting the clocks one hour ahead? I'm working on my second cup.
Richard, I find the only up shot of this annual right of spring is, I get a little more daylight when I get home to do a few things outside...like, rake, clean, split wood...hey wait this isn't a good thing is it.
I got up early today, but still I can't believe it's already almost 9:30 and I haven't had breakfast yet! I'd better get cracking!
Cheers,
Robin
And I thought that I had slept later than usual... I just now realized what happened! Time for the second cup :)
Richard: Thought I would be adjusted fine, but woke up super late today and still feel tired as Noon is rolling in. How sad is that? The rain clouds aren't helping. A little sunshine would be great right now.
Richard - This time of year always reminds me of a time when I was working at a Airport Parking Valet. Lots of folks sort of look down on the "little people" that get their bags in the bus and drive them over to the airport. On a bright Sunday morning when everyone was to have sprung ahead, a man rushed up to me and yelled, you've got to get me to the airport now I have a 8:00 flight. I said in my kindest voice, "Sir your flight took off 45 minutes ago."
I like your point about not many actually have gardens to tend or work regular hours... Now days, it's kinda what ever time it is for you and those that are in your rhythm. What it says on the dial doesn't mean what it did... But, myself, I love it when it's light... Already I'm not up before it, or still working after it's gone.
Seeing as how I was up at 4, which was really 3 just the day before, I have been bleary eyed all day. The first cup of my magnificent cappuchino went all over the table next to my chair, all over some books I was reading, all over my cell phone and all the remote controls in the world. So, after my clean up, I made one more cup, and placed it next to me on the table (again) with a full glass of OJ. I drank my coffee, then proceeded to knock the OJ all over the table. At least this time the books were on the kitchen table drying out from the cappuchino bath they took earlier.
I should have stayed in bed.
The dog is happy, he ate an hour earlier.
I must admit that I feel a bit discombobulated after the time change - just sort of out of funk today. Time to adapt!
Richard, I'm past the third cup of coffee and on to an afternoon nap.
I can't wake up ... I'm seriously thinking of a nap right now, and I have company coming over for dinner. I hate these time changes ... can't we just stay on daylight savings time forever?
I think we should stay on this mode of time. Of course, I say the same thing in the fall.
Hi Richard, and it's back to getting up in the dark for awhile....
You and me both, on the third cup of coffee. I hve found that if I can go to bed super early in the first couple of weeks after the change, I am able to adust better to the change overall.
