I often ask myself this question. If time and money were of no consequence, what would be my “dream” job?
Most people that know me would probably think that I would choose to be a professional photographer. And while it’s true that I love photographer and I am a serious amateur, I don’t really see that as a career choice for me.
If fact, I feel that my true calling is to be a trial lawyer. Not a title-searching, paper-signing, ten closings a day real estate attorney but a real legal gladiator desperately fighting to save himself and his client from jurisprudential ruin.
I often dream of making my final arguments in front of a jury, swaying them with both logic and the letter of the law. And it wouldn’t matter to me what side of the table I was on, as I could argue just about any case either way.
I guess that real estate has enough legal embers to keep the fire burning, but I’m ready to take this dream to the next level. I’m going to set the wheels in motion to make my dream a reality.
It’s going to take time, but I need something to do when I “retire” in a few years.
And I don’t have a lot of time left!

Hmmm.....I love real estate. However, if I were to do anything else professionally I think it would be to go back into teaching. I really did love the profession but the pay was so low it was difficult to continue during my years as a single mom.
OK, now you have me sitting here flabbergasted! So, back to school it is? Before you embark down this road, give me a call will you please? I have some info for you.... :D
Richard, you would make a great prosecutor! I have my dream job that I wanted to pursue years ago but wasn't able to until 6 months ago.
Richard, I love real estate, but the call of exploring new places makes me dream of a job as a photographer for National Geographic. That would be what I want to be when I grow up!
Go for it Richard...making your dreams come true is a jouney that takes a lifetime! I can't think of anything more exciting!
Sounds like you have a plan. We have multiple careers in a lifetime so go for it. My dream job would be radio as I have a face for it!
Hey Richard, you pose a great question! I would of probably been a veterinarian because of my love for animals. Chase your dream Richard, 10 years from now we may read about you defending someone in some high profile criminal case!

Richard, Guess what...I've been thinking the same thing - not to be an attorney, but to get reinstate my teaching license. I am currently taking the one course I need to do that. Before children, I was a school teacher. I still teach - Monday and Tuesday nights I teach GED math at Harford County Detention Center. It's very rewarding.
Richard, retire! Whats that! If I wanted to turn something I really like doing into a profession, it would be playing music. Its always a challenge and rewarding when learning something new. Since I'm not ready to go out on the road, I guess I will stick with what I am doing now. Richard Weisser, ESQ. has a certain ring to it. Go for it!
I suspect I won't retire * I'm having too much fun and even in real estate "down times" property management is good....If I did retire, I'd get a college degree. Very easy with the University of Virginia at my doorstep.

Richard - If in this life or another, you do choose law, be a prosecutor. With your talent you'd probably make a good defense lawyer, and I shudder at the thought of all the bad guys you might set free.

Going to law school is a profession in and off itself. Both my husband and my eldest have done so, and the loans, oh my! And the time, oh my. Requirements? Firt and undergraduate degree. Then the LSAT. Then the JD. You essentially skip the master's degree and go straight to the doctorate.

I would love to be a test driver for an automobile manufacturer!! Putting some of the new models through the paces sounds like a good time to me!!
I don't know for sure what i would do...I have often wondered if I should get a "real job" but don't know if anything else sounds as appealing...I do have a side business of making primitive dolls, ornaments, stitcheries..and do a few shows a year---that seems to help me with the balance of Real Estate!
Good Luck in whatever you decide...hey...how many do we know that go to Real Estate school...not to get licensed but for the knowlege...nothing to say you couldn't explore it...
Outdoor sports writer! It would allow me to hunt and fish as needed and still share my skils with others.
I too would return to the classroom. After teaching high school in the 70's and 80's, I was ready for a change, but I've never lost that enjoyment I receive from educating people.
It's probably the hidden trial lawyer in you that makes you a better negotiator.
As for me, I've always wanted to be a Black Blues guitarist like John Lee Hooker or BB King.
If that never happens, I'd love to be a graphic artist. Not one of those starving artist types mind you. A successful graphic artist.

I would travel all over the world and write reviews for internet travel sites.

Real estate and teaching college are the two things I love and i'm lucky that I get to do them both every day. This is the most fulfilled I have ever been professionally. Good luck figuring out whether the legal dreams are a possibility.

If I could do anything I would be a night club singer - strictly torch music - I adore the standards. unfortunately, I haven't the voice for it!

Hi Richard - I'd like to be an architect. Designing spaces that are aesthically pleasing, environmentally friendly, and cost effective would be a fun challenge. And if our market keeps up the way it's been the last couple of years, it may even be a reality!
