Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Corporate Income tax returns are due in less than two weeks! And April 15th is not far behind.

Corporate taxes are due March 16th 2010Egad! With all of the weather excitement and trying to squeeze in as much business as I can, the March 16th deadline for filing corporate tax returns is less than two weeks away.

It’s hard to believe that the calendar is burning away so fast. I need to get my documents assembled as quickly as I can, and put the year of 2009 into its financial perspective.

Over all, it was not a very good year. Although sales were strong the average price of a sale dropped to the point where commissions barely exceed expenses. Sometimes they didn’t even cover the cost of facilitating the transaction.

But 2010 is starting strong, with a leaner and meaner approach that minimizes cash outlays and replaces them with a lot more personal effort.

And so I am very busy, and I am even on the verge of profitability. I’ll be glad to put 2009 in the file box of life and to never look back.

Instead, I will look forward into a better business future!

Every body's favorite time of the year. I may actually not have to file an extension this year!

Good morning Richard,

It is that time of the year and I need to get everything to my accountant ASAP! I've got it rounded up so should not have a problem. When it was all said and done 2009 was actually a good year but I attribute that to marketing to my community and we did not feel the down turn as strongly as others. Thanks for the reminder!

Good Morning Richard! I gave my accountant everything over the weekend. Since I'm a new agent, I can claim a loss for the first 2 years. I was licensed in September and made no money anyway so it's a no-brainer. Not sure what is going to happen this year. I have a few deals so far that are going to closing this month. As organized as I am, I don't like gathering receipts and filing them. I always forget I have them and at the end of the month I have tons to file, lol. Have a great day Richard!

Richard, the first couple of months of this year have flown by. This year I finished my taxes early and 2009 is filed away. Here's to a prosperous 2010!

Richard:

As always, the time is flying by faster than we like it to. It may be nearing tax time but the snow is still coming down outside my window as I write this.

2010 has started off with much more activity. Let's hope it continues...

I am actually looking forward to filing this year. It will be the least I have had to pay in about 10 years. Looking forward to paying more  in 2011 for 2010.

Richard, I agree about putting 2009 behind us, be we need to continue to look back so as not to make the mistakes we did before!

Richard,

I had one of those years too and will be glad to put 2009 where it belongs, to sleep and not wake it up.

Richard - I can relate!  I would be happy to forget about 2009 from an income perspective altogether.  This year is looking good so far.  :)

There are many people that would just assume forget that 2009 ever even existed, but none of those people work for the IRS do they?

2009 looked good in the rear view mirror as we rang in 2010. Nothing is more fun than income taxes, wait maybe a trip to the Dentist.

Richard:  I need to get finished with my personal filings for 2009.  It'll be April before I know it.  I have a few things left to enter into my beloved Turbo Tax and I'll be ready to file.  You definitely have to be in the right mindset to do taxes.
