A quick glance at the calendar tells me that it’s already the third month of the year. And it has been an eventful one so far.
There have been unprecedented snowfalls, the Winter Olympics, two major earthquakes in the Western Hemisphere and economic chaos.
As the first quarter of 2010 evaporates into history, it’s time to wet our finger and rise it aloft to see for ourselves if the winds of change are blowing in the right direction.
Many have predicted a modest recovery by the middle of the year. If that is to happen, the signs should begin to point in that direction.
The next two months are critical, and we as consumers can help by demonstrating confidence in the future. As we emerge from economic hibernation we must continue to go about the business of survival.
I sense that positive news is just around the corner. And I for one, am ready for it!

I sure hope so Richard! The economy and the housing market need a little boost going into quarter 2! Lets hope that happens!
Hi Richard, I'm ready for positive changes also! Unemployment needs to lower and salaries need to rise. Bring-it-on! Have a great day Richard :)
Optimism is good! I think the uncertainty in DC is the major force that is impacting people's attitudes and decisions.
Jennifer...
I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel of my emergency funds, so I hope so too! Thanks for the comment.
Jackie...
Jobs are key right now. let's cross our fingers and hope! Thanks so much.
Gary...
I think that politically, recovery is a MUST! Let's see what happens. THX
It's already blowing in the right direction around here Richard. Lots of great news coming out of the Triangle these days. We're all ready for the change for sure!
Richard - The spring market should set the tone for 2010; if we see vigorous activity and a stabilization of prices, the market may be turning. However, the results of the $6,500 move-up tax credit have not shown much promise to date. We'll soon know. Good luck!
My glass is always looking half full rather than half empty!
I share your optimism Richard.
Richard, This is a good post to start out a good month. We are all hoping you are right. I think you are.
As long as we look away from the gvoernment the sky is clear. If we look to the government to solve this, things will stay cloudy.
Richard: If there is one constant in our lives, it is that things are always changing. The economy can't stay this way forever. Between the two of us, I know there are two housing markets that are selling their way out of bad times.
Richard, Though it won't be a drastic change for the better, I see one coming.
I'm definitely seeing an uptick here in Charlotte, NC! I love being busy!
Richard, I don't think people realize just how much "confidence" plays into what happens with the economy.
Richard, I'm with you on this one. I will keep a positive outlook and prepare for a change. Thanks.
I certainly hope you are right, Richard. We're all ready for some GOOD news.
Debi
If we become more like Tigger instead of Eyeore we will be fine.
Richard, love your positive attitude, and I definitely hope you're right on this one.
Richard, we need to keep a positive attitude. Negativity is all over and we don't need to re-enforce it in any way.
Lets hope March blows a nice warm comforting wind, not a chill wind.
Hi Richard, I remember a radio news guy, decades ago before talk radio, who used to end his show by saying "If you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own." I've got a good feeling that is exactly what you do. Take care. The good stuff is coming to a neighborhood near you soon.
Richard...where did you get that wind mill. I grew up in Texas and had them all around. Now I can't fine one...let alone with red blades. Great shot...man you rock! I want those red blades.....
Richard, let's hope that things do begin to pick up! I know that we have been busier than we have been in a couple of years the last three weeks!
Richard, yes, it will be very interesting watching what happens in the next few months. Will we trend positive or negative?
Good morning Richard,
Yes we are in the final month of the first quarter of 2010..the winds are blowing and hopefully in he right direction!
