Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Winter returns to Newnan Georgia! Snow in the south metro region!

Snow in Newnan Georgia February 2010As predicted, a snow squall blasted through the southern metro Atlanta region this afternoon, dropping from 2-5 inches of snow.

And while that may seem paltry, especially in those areas that have seen several feet of snow accumulation, keep in mind that we don’t have snowplows or other snow removal equipment. So we pretty much have to wait until it melts.

As temperatures drop into the 20’s tonight, the unsalted streets will glaze over with ice. And that always creates treacherous driving conditions.

But clean, white snow is beautiful, and although we only see it on rare occasions, it is a nice change of scenery. And it always reminds me of the days of my youth north of the Mason-Dixon Line!

But now I’m ready for spring!

It's easy for the heavyweights to pine in... We dont have the equipment here either nor the  30.000 workers to help out. Perhaps we are due for a stimulus. Beautiful and costly is how we view it.

Richared ~ I thought of you tonight as I was being driven home by my husband.  I had to leave my car at the office.  I was thinking Jim Crawford ought to be snowed in also.  Great Photo!

Stay Home Richard... DO NOT GET IN YOUR CAR...LOL

I think its amazing where the snow has fallen this Winter.  All the areas that are seeing snow are the areas not really equipped to handle it.

I just posted a video of some of the pictures I took earlier today. Hoping to get out in the morning and get some more. Especially got some great pictures for my nephew's modeling portfolio...the white snow was awesome! Here's the Valentine's Weekend Snow Event Video!

Hi Richard-

I am hoping that you have plenty of hot chocolate to keep you warm!  We'll be praying for some thawing soon.  I know that most everyone has seen just about enough snow by now...

Meanwhile, Los Angeles continues to enjoy a very mild evening around 68 degrees.

Apparently it will average in the mid 70's over the next few days.

Life is good!

Richard, who would have thought that the South would go so cold this winter? You'all have really had your share of the winter fun stuff. Hang in there, only 5 more weeks until Spring arrives.

I heard you guys were getting hit hard. We had some snow in Daytona Beach last month, which was a shock, considering how much we actually got! I hope your weather gets better soon.

Richard - I love snow!  I grew up in Massachusetts, so Connecticut along the shoreline, seems pretty far south to me.  Much less snow than just 2 hours drive north.  I like snow, but I also like a short winter.  Hope it melts soon so you can drive safely.

Richard, we got about 2 inches yesterday morning... just enough to make everything pretty.  It only stayed on the ground for an hour or so ... that's the way we like it!  Have a great weekend ... stay warm.

Richard, and we still only have patches of the white stuff on the ground here. Plenty cold enough though. Guess it's time to call dad and stick my tounge out at him... :D

Love the photo!

I hope it melts quickly Richard.  Brings back memories of my days as a Delta pilot and the troubles at Hartsfield when it snows.

We got a bit of snow last night as well, in fact, I made my first snow man. This morning tough, ice everywhere.

I heard that you guys got another 3" of the fluffy white stuff.  Is your area ever gonna turn green?

About 20 miles North of my home there was about 2-3 inches of snow.  My house had about 20 flakes the size of a flea.  Location, location, location.
