Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

It's like a fourth holiday in a row … except for the fact that I am working!

It’s a little unusual when Christmas falls on a Friday, because from Christmas Eve through the weekend there isn’t a lot happening.

That iThe holiday season is a busy time for real estate agents!s, unless you’re a real estate agent trying to “beat the clock” on properties that are under threat of foreclosure. “Time is of the essence” never has more meaning than when trying to keep a listed property off the courthouse steps on the next first Tuesday of the month.

And with the New Year’s Holidays intervening, there’s even less time than usual. So we’re off to the races, and hopefully we can put a deal together that is satisfactory to all parties involved.

I have heard it said that in the real estate business you set your own hours. As I was working at 3:45 A.M. this morning I think it’s a bit more like:

There aren’t enough hours in a day!

Richard -

There really are too few hours in most any day.

I am on the clock too. Got a closing that we are racing to close by year end.  Anything you can think of has come up with this closing. Plus I like this type of weekend where I have good quiet time and can go on AR and do some reading and blogging too.  We didn't plan much to do this holiday.

Richard,

With so many things to keep on top of in this business, there certainly aren't enough hours....hence why we're early birds!

Great post!  No rest for those who want to be successful!!! 've been at work from home for 2 days and in the office for 4 hours yesterday * end of the year accounting and receiving FedEx move-in monies for a lease assignment...I showed property last Wednesday afternoon and am scheduling appointments for Tues and Wed * Loads of new rental residents moving into the area in January

Richard,

The auctioneer waits for no agent. This is certainly not the career for anyone looking for a stable 9 - 5.

Richard, try and take it easy.  One can definitely work too much.

Richard.....there's never time to rest in this business....we've had many photo-finish situations this year with construction.

Richard, I think a lot of us were lured into the business with the myth that we make our own hours!  I haven't worked much but I've been drafting a reply to inspection and I am showing houses today... no rest for the weary!  xxoo I hope you had a lovely Christmas!

Good morning Richard, I have a deal with a bank hanging for a response, but no such luck over the weekend. Tomorrow the push will be on.... Today? Not so much.

Do take a bit of a rest today.

I think we have all had those days where we got up and were on the phone with the banks at unrealistic hours just to try to keep a deal together or to keep a bank from foreclosing on a property. We do what we have to sometimes to keep our clients happy.

Hi Richard,

Yes they say we can set our own hours but somewhow there are many out there who don't wish to observe our boundaries. There are always exceptions..it's in your call..good luck on getting it together!

Hi Richard:

I'm with you...there aren't enough hours in the day!

Definitely weird for a holiday to fall on a Friday.  I kept thinking that it was the weekend.  I'm sure it will happen on New Years too.

In our hectic life, there is never enough hours in a day.  When I am fishing...the hours are only 21 minutes long! ;-}   Makes for a short day!

Richard:  Working till 3:45am?!!!  Get some sleep!  You're going to be a real estate zombie today.  I hope you seriously take time for a nap.

Egads...

I'm working so late that I haven't had time to respond ... thanks so much to all, I''m trying to get caught up!

Richard, if you only had a little gerbil running around the inside of that ferris wheel - now that would be a great graphic for the hours kept by realtors.  They never seem to end!  Best wishes for your deal!

Richard, that is setting your own hours. Unfortunately, it is all 24 of them. Get some rest for the New Year.
