Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

This is the hardest week of the year to work! But work we must because that’s what we do.

Christmas can make it tough on your work scedule! It’s always extra tough to schedule work when Christmas is on a Friday. This of course means Christmas Eve is on Thursday, which translates into a very short and frenzied work week.

And the things that need to be done are often more exacerbating because a needed vendor or contact is on vacation or out of the office preparing for the holiday. It’s a game of cat and mouse between now and January 4th.

Oh yeah, that’s another thing, Since New Year’s Day falls on a Friday there are two weekend days before offices open on the following Monday! So it’s going to be tough sledding over the next two weeks!

But there is also the excitement of the season which mitigates a lot of the frustration. And that’s what makes all of the fuss and bother worthwhile!

I love this time of year! Don’t you?

Love this week. But more often than not, I usually find working the last week (after Christmas) the hardest for me.

No I do not.

I love sunshine and warm weather.

I'd live in Florida were it not for the bugs.

So there.

ALL of my clients are holding off until this weekend so I'm going to enjoy these next 5 days off! I need it.

Richard, I love people and I like my job. I am truly happy to help anytime - it's just the way I am. But I am amazed at how many agents and offices don't return calls this week. I tried calling 2 different people yesterday to no avail.

BTW: got me to look from FB

Not much will get done over the next 2 weeks for sure. Those that are working have visions of sugar plums dancing in there head.

Looks like at least two 3 day weekends and for some two 4 day weekends and for some no work for two weeks...enjoy!

Ah Richard, I have an offer to check on, a new client prospect (from the internet I might add) and a closing this week. Add the frenzy of the grandson in the house, nothing done about Christmas, and you have my week in a nutshell! I do love that photo, could be a Christmas card if you ask me.

Richard, I have a property that is supposed to close on the 31st. Not making much progress though with the Holiday. We'll wee what happens. Have a good Holiday!

Richard, I will be working the end of the year but I am going to be doing the bare minimum. I'll follow up with pending deals and return phone calls but that's about it. No new business.

Hi Richard,

I love this time of the year! The real meaning of the holiday is starting to kick in and makes me grateful for just being here. Of course having our 5 beautiful grand children living in the same town and coming for Christmas is always a delight! I have my last closing of the year this afternoon. I've been on 5 listing appointments last week and we will be coming on the market the staggering in the month of January and February. I have another listing appointment this evening and one tomorrow late afternoon. Christmas cards are out, gifts are bought, some baking done..it's all coming together ! Your picture is beautiful and I agree with Andrea it should be on a Christmas card!

Richard....I love the Christmas holiday.....I have 7 grandchildren and six of them are right here near me(one is in florida).....it's sooooo much fun to see the excitement on the faces of the younger ones.......work always gets done, but this holiday has always been very special to me and my family...and merry christmas to you and your family.

Richard, other than Christmas day itself, the rest of the these two combined Holidays are work days...in fact in the Northeast - ski resorts we will be busier than most any other time of the year. We work all Holidays but Christmas , Thanksgiving and Easter...every other day is open for showings.

This is my favorite week to work.  Almost everyone else is taking time off so I can get a lot done and the commute to the office is usually easier too.

Hi Richard.  I sure do.

Not too much hustle and bustle planned for the Tracys...

I hope you have a great holiday!

I thought it would be a light week until email this morning.  I have two sets of wonderful clients that have not been on the winning side of their last few offers (we are still quite competitive here).  There are some new listings they want to see and write on TODAY!  I am happy to oblige.   And... so it goes.

I, too, love this week. I just have this mental image of the year winding down, knowing that JANUARY is just around the corner. Time to recharge and get ready for the new challenges we will have.

Richard...I don't mind the weather reguardless what it is.  I am just happy to be a live and see it each day!

I find that I work better in a hurried environment.  Being patient and waiting for others is my down fall.  Even when it isn't their fault that things are slow.

After a great open house yesterday . . . I'm feeling the joy of production will last throughout the Holiday Season. Best to you Richard.

I am able to much more easily deal with a "problem" such as two long weekends in December. My business allows for much more flexibilty than I would guess a real estate agents. Best to just go with the flow and enjoy this time of year.

Richard:  It's a great time of year.  I'll take the hectic nature because I love the Christmas holidays so.

Posted by Chris Ann Cleland, Associate Broker, Northern VA (Long & Foster REALTORS®, Gainesville, VA) over 2 years ago

Richard, you're absolutely right!  If we take off two weeks in December for holiday preparations and then a holiday week, we're going to be "hurting" for business come January.  'Gotta maintain a balance of prospect, work with live buyers/sellers, and getting from contract to closing.  Any time one or more of these is missing in our business, we will suffer a gap in income.  (But for me, at this stage of my career, I'm okay with that... I love the holidays and do my best to take off those two weeks. )

I was supposed to have a closing tomorrow but will most likely be next week.  I took off early today and went fishing.  This is the most unusual week for work of all.

Richard, I hear you.  My partner is on vacation and I've got showings scheduled for both before and after Christmas.  I'm hoping for a few hours off here and there.

I'm not sure about New Year's week yet, but it looks like I can coast through the Christmas Holiday and take it easy the rest of the week.
