Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Is panic and frustration part of the holiday fun? If so, I’m in for a boring season!

Holiday image by Richard WeisserUnlike many years in the past, I started my holiday shopping and decorating early and I am essentially “done.” I did a little here and there, and now the house is ready and all I have left to do is mail out my cards which are already stamped and addressed.

But instead of feeling smug and satisfied, I’m really quite bored. It seems that not having the underlying pangs of panic takes away from some of the holiday “excitement!”

There is such a thing as being over-prepared. It’s not my nature. Back in school, so long ago, my assignments were finished minutes before they were due. I have always possessed a last-minute personality that pushed deadlines t0 the limit.

Even today, my days are prioritized by urgency, with the most pressing matters getting attention. Working under pressure makes you feel alive!

Maybe I’ll get lucky and one of the cats will knock the tree over. Now THAT would be exciting!

Richard, I cannot believe you even have your cards ready to put in the mail!  You really have got the details finished.  It's too soon!  LOL.  Do your cats like to sit in the tree?

I always wait until Dec 23rd...It is my tradition..panic and achievement! But I cheat as I scope things out early. Don't know why I don't just go ahead and get it done..must be the thrill of panic!

Richard.....this is what makes the world go 'round....I have never been a last minute type of person.....everything done in advance....always did homework the day it was assigned.....never liked the stress....carried that over into my real estate life....I love boring.

Being proactive.... I like that.  Being reactive stresses me and then I'm not fun to be around.

Good for you! Now I'm motivated!

Richard - I always work better under pressure, except when it comes to Christmas shopping! I procrastinate on the shopping every year. I would be very happy with boring.

Richard,

Wow you even have your tree up?? What about the wonderful Thanksgiving decorations do you have them all down? I am not a procrastinator but the day after Thanksgiving is tree trimming day for me. When do you take your tree down? Today we have our list from our kids as what the grandchildren want and we are off to look for Razor Spark Scooters, Wii games, i-pods and phones! Wish us luck!

I talked to a co-worker yesrterday that was taking Black Friday off. I asked her if she was going shopping. "HECK NO!" was the answer. I told her they are doing the sales online now, and, lol, she said she doesn't shop online either ;)

Susan...

The cats periodically climb the tree in an effort to dominate the "territory!" I have two that are always sperring to be the Alpha" animal. THX>

Gary...

My wife  works in a department store. She has a word for men like you! lol and thanks.

Barbara...

I THRIVE on stress! That's why I'm a little bored! Thanks, as always for the comment.

Richard, I have not even started. The past few years I have been behind in decorating, this year I am debating how much to do. I too work better under pressure.

Last year I got my tree up, looked wonderful. By the end of the first day the cats had it apart, so I had to redo the tree with bows and lights only! Oh, I feel a post coming on...

Richard:

Up until now, I thought I was organized. I always do it the day after Thanksgiving.  You are the envy of many...

Richard:  There's a reason for everything, even your seeming over-preparedness this year.  I bet you meet a set of buyers that needs your full attention from the day after Thanksgiving to the week before Christmas.

Richard,

You are way so prepared. I still have 'Santa' shopping to do and ship everything from Texas to Arvada, Wyoming, in time for christmas, boy am I behind.

When I was younger and lived in Ireland we would go to Dublin on Christmas Eve and listen to the carol singers and the women on the streets selling wrapping paper "10 for 50"....I can still hear it. Christmas was magical then.

Enough excitement for ya? :)

I, too, Richard, would gladly end your boredom by having you come prep my house for the holidays. This post with fabulous photo reminds me of all I'm missing by not visiting your perfectly decorated blog more often.

Richard, I'm trying to do my shopping early, but every trip out I wind up getting stuff for me!  OK, now I have to go up to the attic and look for my tree.

Just wanted to report back that we put up the tree this evening and the kitten has already tried to climb it twice! Sigh. ~Rita

Then all is normal and right with the world ... lol and thanks

Posted by Richard Weisser Coweta Fayette Real Estate over 2 years ago

Richard - I am just starting now so I feel like I have it under control.  Pretty amazing that you have everything done prior to Thanksgiving.  However, I need some snow, cold crisp air, Christmas caroles and a tree with lights before I really get into the spirit.
