From our youth onward, it is inculcated into our being that sunny days are good and that rainy days are bad. I guess there is some logic to that, as a good downpour can make outdoor activities a little damp and unpleasant.
But the Creator placed our planet exactly the correct distance from the sun to enable a continuous and renewable cycle of water distribution that brings the life giving fluid to us on a regular basis. Water is the essence of organic life, and without it, we would soon perish.
So as the rains fall, the watersheds of the earth are replenished, and the blessings of life flow from it. Water is associated with growth and thriving, while the lack of water connotes wilting and withering.
So I like a rainy day. It's the gift of life, and a tangible demonstration of grace.

I enjoy a good rain storm as well and do understand the need for it but I think I'm ready for this storm front to move through. Day 4 of this is starting to take its toll!
I'm with Craig. I love a thunderstorm but me and my roof are ready for some sunshine right about now.
Hi Richard:
Rainy days are welcomed in my world!
But this year however, we've gotten more than our share in NJ.
Hi Lovey! I know that into every life a little rain must fall, but it's been pouring buckets here since Thursday. Enough already!! But I get your point. xxoo
A cold ggod rain gives me reasons to complete tasks that I wouldn't normally do and also gives me time with the children.
Richard:
That is a wonderful sentiment and an intelligent way to look at rainy days. I'll try to hold onto that after several days in a row.
Into each life a little rain shall fall...we need it. The Earth needs it. It makes us all stronger. Amen!
In Florida, we need that rainy season to fill the lakes. However, when the boomers come, it is impossible to leave the building, which makes showing homes impossible. Fortunately, they only last a few hours and tend to be late in the day.
Craig...
What prompted this post was a five day vacation in the mountains during which it rained 95% of the time! Happy thoughts, happy thoughts. Thanks.
Julia...
Happy thoughts, happy thoughts! lol and thanks.
Toula...
I'm TRYING to put a positive spin on all of this! lol and happy thoughts, happy thoughts.
Susan...
This is supposed to be a POSITIVE post. It could be worse ... it COULD be snowing. lol and have a great day ... get some new magazines and dream of spring blooms. It rained my whole vacation ... that put a damper on things but happy thoughts, happy thoughts.
Laura...
Or watching a football game on TV without feeling guilty! Thanks my fiend.
Claudette...
After FIVE rainy days in the mountains, I had to find the positive! Thanks, as always.
Richard,
You make a very good point. There is a season for everything and there just may be a strong need to get the water table back up to where it needs to be.
But, I too, like the rest, would prefer a nice sunny day anytime.
Richard, a five day vacation in the mountains sounds like a good time even though it did rain.
Richard - I admit I like the sunshine. But I remember that terrible drought not long ago and vowed never to complain about the rain.
Even though our lakes are down about 50 feet! I wish it would rain at night and be sunny during the day. I hate showing homes in the rain. But we need it bad!
I enjoy rainy days and we sure need some here in Southern California
Rainy days and weekends= Football on TV.
I love rain. I especially love summer rain showers or thunderstorms when i'm going to sleep. However, after a week of freezing cold rain here in the Northeast, I'm looking forward to some sun.
Hi Richard ~ I grew up with a father whose favorite statement it seemed was "we need the rain" - which was usually in response to us complaining about the rainy day. Now that I have a big lawn that needs watering - and more importantly a maple tree I bought - I've joined the chorus.
Liz
I actually prefer the rain myself. Of course I like to see the Sun once and a while, but I like what everyone else considers a gloomy day.
Richard, I love the rain too. It changes the mood of the day. Some say depressing, but I say peaceful!
