Our team played trivia last night just as we always do every Monday night. It's a regular social event that we we enjoy and we do quite well at it, and at the same time we all get to enjoy a night out!
Last night the crowd was a bit sparse, I presume due to all of the wet weather that we have been having. There's been quite a bit of flooding and more rain is on the way.
As it turns out, there were only three teams playing, so we were guaranteed at least third place. So we were in pretty good shape until the dreaded final question was asked: Name the four elected vice-presidents that ascended to the presidency but were never elected as president."
Needless to say, we stumbled on this question, and finished in third place out of three teams. But I'm always one to put a positive spin on everything, and so when asked how we did I said:
"Great! We came in third place but our arch-rivals The Goonies came in next to last!"

Richard,
I guess it goes to show you just can't beat good spin!
That's putting the old "arch-rivals" in their place!
I said the same thing when a friend of mine claimed that we were in a fishing tournament. There was only the two of us and he caught a fish and I didn't. So when he claimed it was a tournament, I started telling everyone that he came in next to last.
Hey - at least you didn't come in next to last!!! :) Sounds like a good time was had - and for the record ... I couldn't answer that question either.
Richard...that sounded like a 'Media' answer. lol I was just wondering a few days ago if you still did your trivia night.
Richard - congratulations on your third place finish. I would have only gotten 3 of those right.
Richard: At least you beat your arch rivals. That's a good way to look at it. Sounds like you have a lot of fun on game nights.
Mike...
It's all about perspective! Lol and thanks!
JL...
Of course! What else would you say? lol
Carol...
I'm very good with presidents but slipped up on one! Aggressive betting cost me the game! Thanks, as always.
Another beautiful picture
So, who were the 4 VP's - did you everfind out? Don't make me Google this, please.
Could it be that the competitors who did not show up were in the closet watching Monday Night Football?
Richard:
I think it was: Gerald Ford, Andrew Johnson, Millard Fillmore & Chester Arthur - is that correct?
Richard, I clicked on the comments to see if there was anyone out there who knew the answer! I got Gerald Ford. I would have been no help to your team!
To All...
Here was my logic...Gerald Ford was not an elected vice-president, so he was not one of the four. Also, LBJ was elected after the Kennedy assassination, and Theodore Roosevelt was also elected after the McKinley assassination!
Also, Harry Truman was elected (Dewey defeats Truman) after the death of FDR. So he was out. I knew that Andrew Johnson who ascended after the Lincoln assassination was impeached, so he was definitely one of them. That's when it got harder!
