The historic downtown square of Newnan Georgia is popular with local residents for a lot of reasons. It's a great place to walk, and to see and be seen. It is a gathering place for area residents who "come to town" to explore the shops and to enjoy eating local fare!
There are many downtown eateries from which to choose, but one of the favorites is The Redneck Gourmet! And it's not just about the catchy name either; The Redneck Gourmet offers an eclectic menu of everything from Grouper Fingers to Wraps.
And it's not just the main courses such as a "Rusty Rooster" which consists of fried chicken tenders, bacon, lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing on a delicious spinach tortilla. Or for dimmer, try the "Gourmet Yardbird" which is a grilled chicken breast topped with homemade BBQ sauce, bacon, tomato, and cheddar cheese.
When you order, don't forget to get one of two their delicious sides. No meal at the Redneck Gourmet is complete without one of these tasty accompaniments such as the broccoli and cranberry salad or the famous RG Caviar! What is RG caviar you ask? It is a cold (salad) concoction of black-eyed peas, tomatoes, and spicy peppers! It's totally awesome!
Another favorite is the big plate of fried pickles, tangy dills batter dipped and fried into a crispy appetizer that is hard to beat!
In addition to serving breakfast, lunch and dinner the restaurant has special events throughout the week. My favorite is Monday night trivia, in which customers try to out-remember each other for a chance to win Redneck Gourmet gift cards!
The Redneck Gourmet is easy to find, on the Northeast corner of the old courthouse square!

Ok, your posts are working great. I have never been to Historic Newnan, and I'm more and more ready every day for a day trip to check it out! Guess I know where to eat....Maybe we can plan something?
Great post about one of your local favorites!
With a name like Redneck Gourmet, it just has to be good. Fried pickles and RG caviar... that's enough to get me to visit Georgia. Delightful write up.
Hi there Richard! I love the Name "Redneck Gourmet". When did it become such a "hit" to be a redneck? I love being one, but remember the days when it wasn't so popular. Ha ha ha.
Great name. Sounds like a great place to try something different. Right up my alley!
I love places like this and only a local can direct you to the best places. Thanks.
Richard,
Great post for your community. Nice photos and even better write-up. That should be worth a dinner or something. :)

Looks like a great place to have a gooood lunch. LOL I bet they have some awesome sweet tea!
RG caviar sounds interesting. Fried pickles you can have, I'm buying. What I would really want is some southern fried chicken.
My son would have to go here just because of the name. How much fun! And it sounds delicious too!
If nothing else you have to love the name of the place for sure, that's got to turn some heads. Sounds like the food is pretty good too.
Richard you do a wonderful job with your reviews. The Redneck Gourmet looks so intriguing. Well done!!
Whew! Fried pickles? After my trip to the Smokies, I'm swinging by this place!
I haven't had fried pickles in ages! I've got to drive over and give this place a try.....sounds perfect.
