Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

"There ain't no cure for the summertime blues!" (with apologies to Eddie Cochran.)

Blue Hydrangea by Richard WeisserI don't know if it's because the Fourth of July holiday is just days away, or if it's due to the hot weather, or maybe it's just the drudgery of working long hours everyday, but I've got a bad case of the Summertime Blues.

And that's a shame, because as a kid, I loved summer. The long, free days of being able to do exactly what you wanted to do when you wanted to do it cloaked me in a mantle of euphoria that I have not been able to wear since those days of yore.

Every day brought a new adventure, or a new project, or new music. Our ears were glued to the transistor radio straining to hear the latest releases from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Dave Clark Five, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Herman's Hermits or Bob Dylan.

Oh, to be able to bathe in the rapture of unfettered youthful exuberance again! Instead, I will be spending the day on paperwork and web updates.

Yeah, I have a bad case of the Summertime Blues.

ToulaRosebrock,comHi Richard:

Now you've got me singing...

I'm joining you with the blues also...

Realizing the summer is flying by and I'm too busy with work to enjoy it.

Gotta take some time to soak in the sun...maybe this weekend!

Richard, LOL, thanks for that.... you did bring back memories, then POOF, reality set in. I forgive you though. Wish I could make it better. How about... a laptop... sitting on the screened in porch with the overhead fan humming sweetly, a mint julep in hand, working on those contracts and posts... of course all those wonderful tunes would be playing and having you tap your feet, putting a smile on your face.

OK Snap out of it. Fat chance of that happening.... :D

Oh yesssss.  If only we could roll bach the clock, if only for a few moments, to a time when childhood summers enraptured our very souls.  The sights, feelings, sounds and smells of summer gave license to our childish ways.  What pleasant memories cluster around these timeless euphoric wisps of rememberance.................then I became a teenager and my dad told me to go and get a job!!!

Rich...

Oh great, now my depression is "catching on." Sorry my friend, I hope that you have a great day!

Toula...

I haven't done anything "fun" this summer. That needs to change soon! THX for the comment.

Andrea...

I actually do have a decent music set-up ... maybe I need to get it off of the "blues" channel! lol and thanks.

Sounds like you may need to take a little vacation.  Maybe just a day off to hang out with the family.  Those days are so rejuvenating that they make you more productive in the end.  Good luck shaking those blues.

Richard - Ditto!  I'll be spending the day doing much the same!  I am going to also do a little mid year review and take some time to do a bit of reflection on the first half of this year.

Richard, the Who live at leeds version will definately get you up and running. Consider the alternative, a winter in Cleveland Ohio (my home town) no blues for you, NEXT!

All work and no play, Jack!  Playing hooky is an art form not limited to schoolboys, Richard. The paperwork and Web will wait a little while and be much easier when you're a bit refreshed.

Richard - I just got back from the Pacific Northwest, summer as it was meant to be, you can walk around outside without having to carry a change of clothes, golf in 80 degree low humidity weather. Of course, when I was a "bit" younger, it didn't matter where I was in the summer.

Thanks for the Eddie Cochrane reference, I need to add that to my blip playlist.

I think it's easy to get the Summer time blues as an adult. It doesn't hold the same sense of adventure because all our days blend together as we get older.

Richard, Cheer up!  The hydrangeas are gorgeous by the way!

I think that we need to bring back the good ole days just for a couple of days.  Even though I am not in the same shape as I was then it just may be fun...... I am talking about being as svelte as I was then.  LOL

No Summertime Blues for me!

I love summer time.  I love having all of the windows open and looking at the lush greenery and hearing the birds chirping.

I'll hold out until the last minute to activate the air conditioning and maybe not even then.  Depends on he humidity.

I love it.
