It's early Monday morning, and I am laying out my plans for the upcoming week. Today is going to be particularly busy, I have a lot of follow-up work to do and some housekeeping items that need attention.
Unless you have been living in a vacuum, you know that the real estate market is still in a state of upheaval, and upwards pressure on interest rates is causing some trepidation to those in the industry.
And while the future of the markets and the economy is daunting, there is one inescapable fact that cannot be disputed:
In order to persevere, we must face this day with optimism and determination.
We must limit "the future" to the next twelve hours. While we may have little influence over the shifting tides of market forces, we have ABSOLUTE control over our activities for the day that lies ahead of us.
And while the expression "one day at a time" may be cliché, it is vital that we not forfeit our ability to seize control of the moments that we have to be productive, and to enjoy the satisfaction that results from doing what we can to determine our own destinies.
And so, I will face this day with optimism! Because I know that only I can change the future for me!

Richard, you make a very good point! I am thinking that I must also tackle just the next 12 hours, and the next 4 will be tough ones, LOL.
Appraisal
Basement Systems Estimate
Mold Remediation Specialist....
Waiting for a response to our counter on a really low ball offer
Yes sir, I will work through today each task at a time. Thanks for a great reminder!
Richard,
This couldn't be more true, especially for real estate agents.
Now, as far as only working the next twelve hours...
Rich
Richard those are powerful points you stated. Thanks for steering me back to the NOW, one must do what they must NOW to get to later.. breaking it down to the next 12 hours makes total sense.
So true! You are right on.
I've been living one day at a time for awhile now, remembering the good ole days of goal planning and dreamboards. Goals and dreams right now are just to survive today and tomorrow and worry about next week, month, year whenver it comes.
Remembering one of my favorite quotes..." There is no security on this earth, there is only opportunity."- General Douglas MacArthur
Andrea...
I have a full schedule today ... made an offer on a HUD home last night and I am awaiting a response! Have a great a busy day!
Rich...
I guess you noticed that I DID say 12 hours ... I don't know what an 8 hour day is anymore!
Gail...
I know that it's the only way I can face the future! Thanks, as always!
It is all about attitude. If you start your day off with negative thoughts, it will be a bad day.
Mel...
Thanks my friend ... have a great week! Oh, BTW I am still thinking about a response to your proposed "adventure!"
Kimberly...
Yesterday I started looking deeper in the future, and it frightened me a bit. So I decided right then and there to write this post! Thanks for the very nice comment and the quote from a great man!
Anne...
I know that it is true ... I just have to "enforce" the notion sometimes! Thanks so much!
It is not 'proposed'. I am registered and paid! No turning back now.
And just so you know, it was more stressful deciding on which new cell phone to purchase than registering for that event!
Many people do future stress. Having a plan keeps one on track and focused. No time to worry.
Richard, we sometimes put more stress on ourselves worrying about all that needs to be done than just getting down to business. We are our own destiny
The only way to make your day better is to make your day better.

Richard, I'm with you...only we are in charge of our attitudes! Great Monday morning post!
Good post, work on that 12 hour day.
When it comes to business I am a firm supporter of staring at the day right in front of me. Tomorrow is another issue, but what can I do right now?
Richard...right on.
I read a very good book over the weekend. Excusses Begone! Wayne Dwyer I bet you'd enjoy that book. One of the things that your post reminds me of is....
Breathe in Calm......Breathe out a smile.
I've been doing that the last few days and it's been kind of fun. Try it! It's addictive like the rain!
Optimism can be a challenge at times, that's a fact. But the one truth in it all ... Sorry looks back, worry looks up. Works every time.
Richard, The last statement, "And so, I will face this day with optimism! Because I know that only I can change the future for me!"...is so true.... I also love the photo, great color!
Richard - obviously you feel that you have your destiny in your own hands. We need to live neither in the future, nor the past, but the now. We can learn from one and plan for the other, but......
Richard: Love the attitude. I am all about optimism, particularly in unsure times. I've really missed stopping by your blog the last couple weeks. Glad I made it for this post.
Attitude is critical. Even if it can't change the actual facts it can certainly change how we respond to them which often dictates future success. Nice post.
Richard,
I do think that you have captured the whole premise of one day at a time. Thanks.
I agree with several projects in the mix we all need to have a plan or we will get to the end of the day and wonder what happened.
