Dreams can be pleasant or disturbing, vague or detailed, quizzical or arousing but there is one universal certainty regarding them:
They offer a free look deep into our subconscious minds. And we can learn a lot about ourselves by examining them and interpreting their true meaning..
And although the images generated in dreams come from everyday life, their meaning can delve deeply into the recesses of our mind, and if properly examined, can teach us a lot about ourselves.
It takes a little practice to learn how to remember dreams. A notepad and pen on the nightstand can be very helpful. When writing about a dream, don't note only the gist but be sure to document every detail that you can remember.
Interpreting a dream correctly is an essential part of the formula. Because a proper understanding of our own psyche can help us to understand where our strengths and shortcomings lie, the proper application of the lessons learned from out dreams can really help us develop our character.
Always remember that YOU generate YOUR dreams. So who better to tell you more about yourself?
And more importantly, are you listening?
Note: BTW I'm pretty good at interpreting dreams, so if you need a little help, drop me a line!

Richard I've tried writing my dreams down, but trying to decipher that middle of the night writing is tough. Perhaps that will tell me as much as my dreams!
Laura...
I always write them down, but don't try to decipher them until I've had a good cup of coffee and am wide awake. Some dreams are easy, some take hours to figure out. Everyone in the office brings their dreams to me, it's fun but sometimes I got a little too close to the truth!
Hi Richard! My dreams are very vivid, and happen very often. Some of the most vivid I remember even years later! To be honest, some I am afraid of interpreting! ;-)
I almost never remember any of my dreams even the minute I wake up. The ones I do remember are usually the ones that are very emotional. Sounds like you are an amateur Freud. I'll need to bring you in as a guest speaker for my class when we discuss dreams and their meanings. Shame you don't live closer :-)
Richard,
I don't think that it would be a good idea for me to write some of my dreams down. It could lead the cops to my wife in the event of my sudden death. ;-)
BTW, glad to see that you survived last night.
Marney...
You should never be afraid because you already have the thoughts ... you are only "realizing" them. Remember, you need to know before you can grow! ;)
Stacey-Ann...
Good point, because I am not a mystic, just a scientist. I agree with Freud about the power of dreams, I just disagree on a lot of his interpretations! I wish I could come and be a guest speaker!
Don...
Lol. Thanks for the reminder. I need to go and update that post!
I am not sure what I dream...Maybe that is my problem - like school, not paying attention. Have a great weekend!
Richard, No way I'm writing down any of my dreams as long as there's any chance the wife can get to the log before me. Rich
Absolutely ~ I think that so much stress could be avoided if people would be permitted to sleep properly, so the subconscious can work things out.
I've studied dream interp, for many years. I think the trick is to not wake up suddenly if possible, so subconscious can transmit the information to conscious mind during "alpha", where it can be recalled.
Richard, listen to myself? You must be dreaming:)
Richard, if you write down your details about the dream in the morning they have some books that help you with the interpretations. It is a fascinating look of what is going on inside your mind in your sleep state.
Hi Richard. I would be to frightened to find out what my dreams really meant...
Probably something twisted.
Thanks for writing,
Ken
I've always been a dreamer, and am quite adept at interpreting them too. But my dreams are often from God, and are for the specific purpose of leading me, or passing along a message to our church. And interpreting dreams using biblical interpretation is a very different method than the secular ways. So I have to be careful, and use a lot of prayer to get the correct interpretation of mine ;-)
I would honestly be afraid to know what my dreams truly mean, even though I have several books on dreams and how to interpret them. As for writing them down, I would hate for the rest of the world to be subjected to what is really going on inside my head.
My unconscious mind is starting to scare me....to many nightmares evolving!
I love going to bed at night knowing I'm going to dream. Sometimes I remember, sometimes not.
