Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Another not so wordless weekend ... a photographic study of Water Lilies!

Water Lilies at the Atlanta Botanical Garden by Richard WeisserAs spring wanes and summer firms its grasp, the fragile early blossoms slowly give way to the more durable summer blooms.

Some of the most interesting summer garden species of flowers are the Water Lilies or Nympheas. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors and they are the perfect addition to any water feature.

Water Lilies also contribute to an ecosystem that is conducive to coexistence with reptiles, amphibians and fish. They provide cover, a food source, and help maintain a healthy balance of gases, alga and minerals in the water.

But my favorite thing about Water Lilies is that they translate beautifully to photographs. Just as Claude Monet became obsessed with trying to capture the beauty and grace of the Nympheas on canvas.

Unlike Monet and his oils, I like to try and capture the exquisite beauty of Water Lilies through the lens of my camera.

And like Monet, I will continue to attempt to define these magnificent plants in the two dimensional plane!

After all, it;'s a worthy subject for any artist!

Richard, Your shots are absoulutely gorgeous! The big lily pads in your first picture look like you could actually lay on them in the warm sun with a cool drink in your hand, sunglasses on, clouds passing slowly by... oh! Anyway, thank you so much for sharing!

Vickie...

I actually use the photos as a crutch sometimes ... when it's hard for me to think of something. Thanks so much for the nice comment!

Sally...

And white, and lavender, and purple .... no wonder Monet spent years looking at them! Aloha my friend!

Mara...

Aw shucks ... but I did strain on creating this post. I looked though a lot of photos before I decided on the Water Lilies. Then I had to resize and "brand" them for the post, and then write some words to go with them. I'm really glad that you liked the result, thanks for the nice comment.

Irene...

I wasn't really expecting many comments on this post. I am awed by the response, you guys are great! Thanks so much.

Wanda...

I was indeed tempted to try to walk across them, but I restrained myself. Thanks for the comment!

Richard, how wonderful. We used to have a pond full of the most beautiful pink water lilies. I love them. Then there is always the pods in the winter.

Thank you!

I use Photoshop Elements 7.0. As a matter of fact, I just purchased the latest version last month. It does everything I need and only cost me $70 for the full version. Thanks for asking.

re your comment...that's exactly how the professional writing process works---the sometimes strain, editing, reworking, etc... and then, voila! It's suppose to appear that it just "flowed"...so this is a perfect illustration of a writer's wonderful WORK... Sometimes bloggers say they don't know how to write, but maybe they just don't understand how to work. I think it's like swimming...but you can't swim if you don't get into the water...lovely lily pads!
