I happened to catch NBC's nightly news tonight, and it was proclaimed that the recession may have bottomed out. It seems that reports from every sector seem to indicate that the downslide has slowed considerably, the results are inconclusive but promising.
And while it may not be time to uncork the champagne just yet, it's refreshing to see at least a hint of optimism from the national press corps.
And with higher consumer confidence, and amazingly low real estate interest rates and low property prices, there will be an onslaught of new buyers entering the market. If you combine those factors with incentives being offered by the federal, state and local governments, the uptick in sales may be unprecedented.
I'm glad to know that NBC confirmed what I already knew! The phones are ringing, and our local market is moving.
And I am ready for more!

Richard, I am so glad the news on the news is more positive. And thank you for letting me know. I don't watch the news anymore. Might start again though.
Love the photo, as always! Thank you.
Hmmmm. I'm not convinced yet. Yes, there are calls and bottom feeders; however, the investors will buy to flip (good for them) but that will not be good for the inventory. The real estate market and where it is 'at' is local.
P.S. Missed you at REBar Charlotte.
Andrea...
If it;'s on the mainstream news, there has to be some level of confidence. Goodness knows that they are typically very pessimistic. THX
Susie...
As soon as school is out, you'll see an upturn in Maggie Valley! And I'm a little shy at those big events ... I like hiding behind the computer! ;)
Good to hear some positive news but it's still pretty rough here in Cleveland! not that I am giving up :-)
Well I've been moving a good amount of real estate but I'm not willing to say that things are bottoming out just yet. But hey I'm no expert.
good news for a change from the media! We have been crazy busy!! Which is great. I am waiting to see if it is the summer rush or if things are turning around :D
Ah the calm before the storm. We are still getting hundreds of people being laid off here.
Barb...
We're going to have to keep an eye on the stock market this week ... it may be a harbinger of the future! Thanks, as always!
Justin...
Well, I don't like anecdotal information, but I am getting reports from all over the country that property s moving now ... at least in some price ranges! Thanks for the comment.
Kristin...
In our market, it's the $8,000 tax credit combined with 100% USDA loans. Thanks, my friend.
Richard, I've seen an up tick myself, and for once I hope the media is right...go tell it from the mountain.
awesome, awesome, awesome~!
I can tell that we will have a FABULOUS SUMMER in store....
Good to hear the news on tv (because it has to be the truth? huh?)
It is great to hear the Media say what I have been seeing for the last couple of months.
Richard, housing does move with jobs, and the last national jobs report had more losses, but not as bad as the previous month.
Russ...
We'll have to wait and see if NBC is jumping the gun, or if the recession really is slowing down. Thanks.
Steve...
I'm just surprised that the mainstream media is getting on board with this ... that has to mean something! THX
Sheila...
I'm just saying that THEY reported it! lol Now we'll have to wait and see what happens. Thanks for the comment.
Richard, it's about time the news started reporting reality. I agree that some areas have not yet seen bottom, maybe none of us have and this uptick is just a fluke but buyers came out in March and they have not stopped. Unfortunately, most of them require a humongous amount of time to educate due to the brainwashing they have received from the news media.
Nice to be optimistic, but I am not going to hold my breath. I still think that we have a long way to go. Yes, business is picking up, but then it usually does this time of year...
Your building consultant for life in Nashville, TN
It's spring and it's real estate buying season.
I hear this every single year.
Every year I have to tell our agents, save your money and stay out of the mall.
End of June. . . . . . . .?????
Richard,
I am with you sir. I just wonder if this would have been going on as long as it has if the media/press would have looked at the local markets instead of the national market. Finding that there were some good markets out there and reporting on them instead of all of the negative over the last couple of years....
Hey Richard: Wish I could believe that the Recession has bottomed-out. As Russ Ravary has already mentioned above, Michigan can't even SEE the bottom yet. With Chrysler in bankruptcy and GM soon to be, the damages will be significant and long-lasting to almost every community in the State.
I tend to agree with NBC and say that by and large I think we have hit bottom (some areas maybe still falling). I think a good indicator will be where we are in the Fall ( I know with Spring just arriving no one wants to hear that).
Stop spreading good news Richard, that's the last thing that we need to hear.
Richard : Thanks for the Good news. We need to here it. The more good news we spread around the better things will get.
