The drizzle's beads on leaf collect
As prisms, dance on light's effect
Assembling, ‘til the ballast weight
Sends sweet petals fluttering to their fate!
(R Weisser)
It's just one small droplet of water. The petal can sustain the weight. But then more collect, until eventually the compounded burden becomes too much and the rose petal crashes to the ground.
It's another example of the "Straw that Broke the Camel's Back" It's not usually the big things that bring us down. For those occurrences, we plan and prepare and are able to face them head on with confidence and determination.
But the little nuisances that we often ignore and neglect can accumulate unnoticed and unchallenged into something much more ominous. These minor annoyances, when left alone, can compound and snowball into a catastrophe of epic proportions.
Better to shake the coagulating distractions off, one at a time, than to wait until we are past the point of no return and it's too late to avoid disaster.
And in doing so, we can avoid the necessity of spouting the too often used phrases: "I should've, would've, could've!"

It IS often the gnats, Richard! Thanks for the reminder.
Richard, I am looking at all the flower petals lying on the ground from yesterday's storm that pushed through here. Big drops often bring big disasters...
Your building consultant for life in Nashville, TN
Oh man, you nailed this! The tiny stone lodged in my running shoe can drive me to distraction both literally and metaphorically!
Hi Richard, I agree with you-- those little things pile up and soon become big things - if we don't take care of them right away. Excellent post today!
Richard....how true in so many ways! Life, especially now, can really pile it on! We have to try and shake it off, drop by drop, so we dont' end up being the rose petal on the ground!
Great positive words here...thanks for sharing them...and your great pictures!
Richard, as always, you bring life into perspective. Thank you. I have some minor annoyances that I need to attend to. Have a great Sunday!
Irene...
I know it's cliche, but I had this cool photo and .... lol and thanks!
Michael...
Ugh, they're all over the ground. Thanks, my friend!
Russell...
Exactly, or the squeaking in the car that we ignore until something breaks! Thanks, as always!
Self help blog posts to prepare for the week ahead. Thanks Doctor Rick. Dr Rick will be back to tell you about his new book and video series after this short message..(fade to black). Super post.
Richard, Keep it up and Prozac will be out of business. Rich
Once again you nailed it...Deal with issues now as procrastination will only exacerbate them!
Mary...
Thanks, but what are you doing up so early on a Sunday?
Thom...
Thanks for noticing ... I caught that shot in a morning drizzle yesterday!
Marney...
Well, just take care of them one at a time! Thanks, and have a great Sunday back at ya!
Richard - You are so right that we prepare for the large things in life but it is the small and unexpected challenges along the way that test our patience, character and drive to move forward. All the best this Sunday morning.
So true Richard! Not to mention the great relief you feel when you've done what's necessary...you know that call you've got to make with unpleasant news!
OH, SO TRUE! I have to say though, that learning to deal with those nastly 'little' things makes us rise to the challange with the 'larger' things in life!
HA! I was on a weight machine last Thursday and was asked, "Can you feel that in your abs Lenn?"
"Are you kidding? I can feel that in every muscle in my body".
Then I took a deep breath and went to the next machine.
Keeping fit is like marketing real estate services. You have to "work it".
Gee-- I wish that our nations decision makers would have read your post --- and then taken action as required .
To answer your question, Richard - we are babysitting our (big) one year old grand- dog ... she doesn't know about Sundays yet, so she got up a 5:55 a.m. and thought we should get up too!
Andrew...
I usually try to do something inspirational on Sunday! Now I have to inspire myself to go to a short-sale listing! Thanks for the kind words.
Rich...
That's OK, I'm out of the stock market now! lol THX
Gary...
Exactly! That's all there is to it! Thanks, as always.
I love the picture Riachard. You have some eye for composition! The words you composed here are wonderful too. Great advice.
Good Point .. So when you feel those Droplets collecting on your back .. time to stand up shake it off and lift up
Reading this was really a timely event. This morning has held several surprises for me - and so far all of them good!
As for the would've, could've, should've retort .... my grandmother always told us ...
Can't never could do nothing.
Took me many years to understand just what she meant. But I got it. :)
It is the small things. You are right about that. It is amazing how all the little things add up to the river that engulfs us in the end.
Kenneth...
"Test our character." I like that, they do indeed put us to the test. Thanks for the excellent comment.
Laura G....
You mean the one: "That offer we spent two hours on last night ... the listing agent FINALLY called me back and it's been under contract for two week." That call? ;)
Debe...
Sometimes they just gnaw at you, so might as well get rid on them! THX
LOL @ Lenn. Very well said, lovely. :-)
Richard, you nailed it, indeed. ;-)
Hi Richard:
Great post & nice analogy.
We need to handle challenges as they arise, or else they mount up and be tougher to handle later.
Great post Richard. A flood starts with one rain drop. Better to shake off the small stuff than let it turn into an avanlanche we can't control.
Those little things can add up pretty quick. Like you say, knock them out one at a time and move forward.
Richard, a beautiful poem, and of course a great photo. And you are so right about those drips. They can really get to us. I try, am getting better about that. Now I will have your photo and poem to shake me into dropping the drips before I fall to the ground! Thank you!
Richard...An older business man once told me that it isn't the big thing I need to worry about it is the little things, but never take them to bed. The morning after is when to deal with them with a fresh mind.
Richard,
This is some very good advice my friend and a really good way for me to start my week. Thanks again!!
This is so true. I try so hard not to let things pile up!! I love your poetry and photos!! Thanks for sharing your beauty!
happy Monday!
Lori
Richard: You are a poet and a wonderful photographer, you are really talented with words and photos. Great post.
