Since the opening of the new Coweta County Justice Center in 2006, the 1904 historic old courthouse has been undergoing renovation for both the purpose of preservation and the anticipation of new services being headquartered in the downtown facility.
Once the remodeling is complete, the building will house the Probate Court and a Visitor's Center. The grand old structure will still be the focal point of the downtown square.
Progress has been slowed recently by the downturn in the economy and scarcity of funds, but the project should be completed in 2009.
After all, it's not just a building; it's the centerpiece of Newnan and Coweta County! And it's an integral part of a vibrant and thriving downtown!

Richard, that looks cool! I hope when it is all finished we will get to see it!
Andrea...
Yes, I took the photo Monday night after our trivia session! It's cool, isn't it?
Richard: In the grand scheme of things, there isn't that much time left in 2009. Will be done before you know it!
Hi Richard... it's great to see old historic buildings like this renovated and repurposed, and this one is a particularly special looking one!
Good to see it being saved. WE built a new court house 10 years ago. a few days before demo of the old one, someone bought it ans saved it.
Looks like a building that will be a symbol of the community for a long time in the future.
It's good to see they're taking care of the history of Newnan... Great shot of the building, btw.
