The vales from emerald quilts are waked
Viridian green-clad boughs draw nigh
Awake to don the robes of leaf
As celadon waves crash on mountains high.
(R Weisser)
Spring comes late to the mountains of North Georgia! But the mountains take on a special beauty as they transform from wintry grays and browns into a carpet of green.
Beginning in the river valleys of the lowlands, and gradually rising into the high elevations, the emerald tide rolls in swells towards the crests of the range. The advent of spring occurs day after day in each topographic plane.
It's a special kind of beauty!

Ok can you set up a lounge chair and a drink at the foot hills for me
Richard: Great photographs...as usual. I can smell the fresh air and feel the spring breeze. Time to grab the iPod and go for a walk.
SOLD... Now just move that entire landscape to the Nort Country and I will be happy.
Richard, you are the consummate southern gentleman in my eyes. A poet, teacher, artist and realtor! Thank you for the great photos. It has been so long since I have been back to Georgia. When you get outside of the rat race of the greater Atlanta metro area it is some beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
GORGEOUS ... I was born in Georgia so scenes like this make me proud to be from such a beautiful state.
This is really beautiful Ricahrd. I must come get a tour from my favorite Georgian! Do you think Don would take me around? No? Just kidding obviously! Should I delete?
Richard - I fish the north Georgia/ North Carolina streams. Such a relaxing, pleasant area.
Wow - that looks just too peaceful! No cars, just animals, grass, trees, and space. Must be absolutely wonderful!
Kathy
Beautiful pictures wish I was there to share the beauty.
Eric...
You got it, my friend!
Chris Ann...
I caught these on a perfect evening last Friday! I sure was glad that I was there, camera in hand. Thanks!
Bill...
Well, if you get high enough it's like the Nort! Thanks, my friend.
Andrea...
Thanks for the nice words. It was a bout a two and a half hour drive each way to get these photos, but worth every minute! ;)
Connie...
I'm glad you enjoyed the pics! I really enjoyed taking the afternoon off to grab these.
Susan...
There is more to that story...lol but we WON"T leave our happy place! No deletions needed!
Richard, that is one thing I really miss about living in Atlanta. Spring is such a splendid time. I remember the trees in Piedmont Park with that fresh spring green color. It's an image I'll never forget. Thanks for the lovely photos.
It's so gorgeously green! We only get really green here for a few months and I love it!
Ok, Richard... I had to laugh at the "Spring comes late to the mountains of north Georgia..." At least I can see grass in your photo's... there's precious little of it to be seen in here my friend. Soon though... very soon (I hope)!
Really beautiful Richard. But I am with Jesse While it is not quite the snow scene of Alaska, NY is still just getting the first new leaves on trees and just had the first flowers bloom.
Thank you for the poem and the pics.
Claude...
And well stocked with trout! Thanks, my friend!
Kathy...
And so far, free from development! I hope for a long time. Thanks.
Pat...
It is a beautiful place, that's for sure!
F&S...
Yes, Florida is great but I would miss the seasons! Thanks.
Mandi...
It really is ... and we have had a lot of rain so the greens are greener this year! Thanks, my Show Low friend!
Jesse...
Like you told me on the phone ... the snow has melted down to three feet! It's practically time to take a swim! lol
Richard, your photos are just awesome! Love these......
And now I find myself missing the mountains again. Your pictures seem to have that affect.
