Coweta Fayette Real Estate & Newnan Homes for sale blog by Richard Weisser of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers

Don't let your success be derailed by forces beyond your control!

Old Railroad TrackRunning a business in itself is hard enough. Even in the best of times there is a precarious balance between success and failure.

If you add to the mix the necessity of having to deal with unprecedented external economic forces, the quest becomes one more of survival than success. Many are just trying to hang on for dear life and weather the storm.

The problem is; this isn't a passing cyclone, it's a major climate shift. Many of the changes in the marketplace are permanent and will never revert to the former status quo.

So it is important to accept the fact that we cannot change things that are out of our control. Instead, we must focus on our own relative system and make adjustments within on own sphere of influence.

Our actions must be both preemptive when we can and reactive when we must!

It's time to take the controls in hand and get back on track.

Great post - the faster we accept the changes are going to be here for a while, the better we will do!  I AM PUSHING AGENTS IN MY OFFICE TO GET BACK ON TRACK AND THEY ARE SEEING GREAT RESULTS!!!

Richard: this is the second blog I've read this moring about the power of acceptance. There must be a message for me here. Focus on what we CAN do not what we CAN'T - there is strength there!

It is what it is, better get used to it. Allthough business is picking up, transactions are a little tougher, bring it on!

Very excellent post hopefully all the people come comment here today :) But it's true in order to stay successful one must move with the tide and roll with it.

I love this message. I do believe we need to accept what is going on but also have the power to change what we do not like. Sitting back and just watching it happen is not taking contol of ones life. Make a difference. I like what one comment said. " Bring it ON" I agree. Bring it on I am ready.

Richard...

Yes indeed, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get to work! THX.

Janice...

That's the message! Here's how I came up with the topic today: I looked through my photos and wanted to use the train tracks pic ... and built the post around it! Thanks, as always.

Charlie...

That was some strange wind ... never saw anything quite like it! Did y'all lose any trees?

Good post Richard, change is the only certainty whether in our professional lives or our personal lives!

Richard, Sounds like part of the Serenity Prayer. Great wisdom here. Rich

F & J...

Transactions are really tough. It's harder to close than anytime in the 25 years I have been in the business. That does require a lot of adjusting! Thanks for the comment.

Heather...

And we must plan when we can and do damage control when we must ... thanks for jumping in, I really appreciate it!

Nanette...

You are so right, and I think that since we are in the second quarter already, we really need to get going! Thanks!

Richard....We are not going to change the world by ourselves.  Sometimes we just need to roll with the punches.  Fight and you will fade out, accept, and be in position to prosper.

Adaption - that's what survival is. I don't have to adapt to this climate; I wasn't in the business during the bubble. I've been trained to think out of the box to get business and to make transactions happen.

This is a great reminder that we need not be overwhelmed by the things that are completely out of our control,

We certainly can get de-railed and by our own doings.  It is always great to have a track to follow and remind us to stay on course.  Thanks for the great analogy, beautiful photo to illustrate!

Richard, you've hit the nail on the head. If we continue to do what we have been doing, we may miss the train. Something to think about.

Richard, many shifts are permanent, like the dramatic shift away from print media advertising. Good point.

Hey Richard - If we cannot change and accept change in systems and in others, we won't possibly keep up!  Good post!  Thanks.

Good morning Richard, very wise post indeed. It is a whole new world out there, and those who do not have the stomach for it need to move to a new venue.

Richard:  A great message.  Control what you can and adjust to the current climate.  On a totally different subject, I awoke, for the second straight day, to a cloudy, rainy, gray haze.  Made me wonder if you have any "gray day" shots in that ginormous photo archive of yours.  Would love to see you feature one of two in a post if you do.

Richard - in all things we need to concentrate on what we can control, otherwise, we are just wasting our time.

There have been a lot of changes and more to come. There will be many people who left behind by a failure to change with the times.

Richard - I quit watching the stock market ping pong. Aside from staying out of it, there is not much I can do about it. Allows me bettter focus on what I can do. Nice post.

You're dead on about the major climate shift. I just have to keep adjusting my approach on how to explain this to my sellers, when their properties aren't selling!

Dear Richard,

One of the only reasons you are the one I turn to when I get to the Rain is your sanity.  When all else fails, you are my Reader's Digest.  I'm sure you get my drift.  Thank you.  I'm reading your previous post next...it looks good, too.  Bless you, Brother....

Richard,

I like this post and am reblogging it. The only thing I differ with is your choice of the word "reactive." That sounds like we didn't have a good way to deal with an issue. I prefer the word "responsive." It connotes a choice. :)

The vision that comes to mind along with the overgrown railroad tracks is the La Brea Tar Pits we visited often as kids. "No way are my feet getting stuck in that!" is what I always thought then - and, still, today.

This is an inspiring post, Richard! I'll be following Steve, and re-blogging it.
